52 weeks of 2017 ... my story starts with a ...
... cup of coffee ... I don't function properly without it ...
LIMG_2839_lr
I tentatively ID'd this beautiful bird based on a small drawing in National Geographics "Field Guide to the Birds of North America" as a Krider's Red-tailed Hawk but was not confident that I was correct. Thanks, Brennan, for properly identifying it as a pale immature red-tailed hawk. I appreciate the help!
Thank you Benji for correcting my bad German ;)
Anyways, this is a quick little scene I decided I would do, I feel like I should post more Eastern front stuff, so here it is. The part of this scene that I don't really like is that I didn't properly pose the Kommandant, I wanted to show the MP-40 that is on his hip but oh well. :P
God bless!

Cat-a-lyst (kat'l-ist) noun: A feline who observes, analyzes and evaluates human behavior without itself being affected.
Here, a familiar figure attentively but placidly regards autumn activities without so much as raising a paw.
“No one term properly or adequately describes this iris as it is a subtle blending of rich and intense deep chocolate and red brown with a hint of sultry, still deeper chocolate. Blooms are flaring; color is sunfast, and substance heavy. A rich beauty.” -Schreiner
‘Dutch Chocolate’ is a Tall Bearded Iris that typically grows to 35” tall. Flowers bloom May-June. Hybridized by Schreiner. Registered in 1970. Standards and falls are shades of warm red chocolate with red chocolate beards.
Thank you very much for your kind comments and visit, much appreciated! 🙋♀️

my first jumping spiderthat was literally jumping all over the place so I didn't get to to sort my depth out properly. I hope to see one again as I'll look t get the actual jump
I've spoken about C23 C24 before and I will get to explaining the phenomena that is going on as soon as I put some photos together that demonstrate it properly.
For about a 60 minute period there are birds of every type, shape, size, color that you might think you'd encounter by the hundreds at any moment (and some you wouldn't think you'd encounter).
Anyway when this one appeared it was one of a hundred I could have photographed at that moment. I didn't pay it any special mind until i processed the photo. It is a white form of something - but what??
Well here is the consensus -
Juvenile Little Blue Herons are white, similar to the egrets.
Herons in late summer/autumn provide challenges to birders, as adults are in nonbreeding plumage and juveniles abound. The reference to late summer may not be accurate for more southernly Florida -
Since writing the above, i noticed in processing that i had photographed, on the same and on other days, similar looking birds - there is one in the comments below
What i also noticed is that i had a photo of a caracara in flight - i almost never see one, so have a photo of one in flight was stunning (to me anyway) - this photo isn't so good, so i've posted it here in the comments below - now that i know that at least one is out there, i will be looking for it

On my work bench behind the furnace in the basement I have found a zen practice of still life photography.
Using work lights, plastic boxes as filters, and 'painting' the image during it's 3 second exposure with a flashlight.
Arranging the flowers can be quite frustrating.
I took that very aspect of difficulty and frustration and
channeled it into an intentional interaction with the flora.
They have to pretty much be all be in one plane to focus properly and their spacial arrangement must be composed aesthetically.
The light has to wash across them all evenly as well.
All the while like children they are jostling and moving about.
So I changed my attitude and transformed the whole drawn out experience into a ZEN meditation..... Nothing else matters during my time calmly concentrating on the steps needed to get the right shot....
And in the process I have managed to bring that same attitude to the frustrations I meet in real life... (sometimes it works, and .....
When properly channelled, it can be a source of life, twisted though it may be. This is why I call myself the Plague Doctor. I take the world's Corruption, toxic to your kind, and I filter, cleanse, and consume it. In this way, everyone wins.

The old town of Matillas,
Speaking properly we should talk about Matillas (the old one) and La Estación (the new one). Let's start with the original: located in the valley of Henares, next to the Roman road to Zaragoza, it was founded and baptized in the repopulation of the XII-XIII centuries, giving it such name for the existing vegetation. It was integrated into the Common Lands of Atienza until the fourteenth century, when it passed to the Lord of Jadraque. Its people lived on cereal (wheat, barley and rye) and sheep.
In this term, due to its location, important battles were fought in the War of Succession (18th century), Carlistas (XIX) and Civil War (In) (1936-39) that left their trail. When the quarries were launched in 1904, the industry and the railway arrived that caused the ruin of the old town and the birth of a new one, next to the factory and station (La Estación).

Here some curiosities about the most emblematic figures of Venice: the gondolier and his gondola;)
The Gondola
To build a gondola it takes 8 types of wood in 280 pieces that spend more than 500 hours to be properly assembled.
The tip of the gondola has the shape that resembles the hat of the Doge, the first magistrate and all powerful of the Republic of Venice. Made of iron, it helps maintain the balance of the gondola, and also represents the "6 sestieri", that is, the neighborhoods of the city: San Marco, San Polo, Santa Croce, Castello, Dorsoduro and Cannaregio. The other small tip on the opposite side represents the island of Giudeca.
In 1580, around 10,000 gondolas circulated around Venice, since the gondola was the main mean of transport of the population. Today, the 500 gondolas that sail through the city are of exclusive use of tourism.
The Gondolier
Being a gondolier in Venice is a sought-after profession but difficult to achieve. In the past the profession was passed from father to son, but today there is a rigorous preparation to be fulfilled and tests of ability among others.
So the gondolier must be in good health, know how to swim, have a beautiful voice, besides undergoing a training that includes:
- 60 hours of theoretical classes including naval law, knowledge of Venetian arts and history, behavior with tourists, as well as being able to speak English and Spanish.
- 10 hours of hands-on lessons with professional gondoliers.
As you can see from the photos, it should have balance and good physical condition, because the channels are narrow, often full of gondolas. It must be defiance to pass under the little bridges, and the gondolier never, but NEVER must let the gondola touch the walls of the houses.
I watched a documentary on TV about the test, and really leaning against the wall is a an elimination item. I remembered this when I saw the scene from the first picture here, the gondolier leaning his leg against the wall to push away her gondola, so that it would not touch the wall. This maneuver is also used in the curves.
Today is the last day of the year.
Yes, most of you are running all around preparing the last needed things to properly say goodbye to 2021, filled with hopes and wishes for the new one to come.
But for me, since 2020, the 31st of December took another meaning...
This day became a celebration of the most wonderful human being I had the chance to get to know, discovering him so slowly and beginning to love without even realizing it, my exceptional Adam ♡.
If I start to talk about him I'll probably fill this entire section and turn it into a book so I'll keep to the essentials,
a simple message for my Essential :
Thank you for being the most amazing gift I ever received.
Thank you for charming me every day with your outlook on life, how you choose to live it, and your incredible principles that make you so unique.
Thank you for making me laugh all the time, for touching me in so many ways with such strong emotions, and for caring that deeply about what's truly important.
Thank you for being that strong shoulder I can rest upon when things turn gray, those tender arms I can wrap myself into when I need support or warmth.
Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us, making all these people dream with how you portray emotions in your pictures, how you tell stories with your pixels.
Thank you for bringing so many smiles around you even without realizing it, just by sharing your creativity with us.
Thank you for your words that always leave me in awe and that I'm lucky enough to be able to share with you so intensely.
Thank you for being you Adam, you make my life so much more beautiful ♡
Happy Birthday & Joyeux Anniveraire mon Amour
