Havana (Spanish: La Habana) is the capital city, province, major port, and leading commercial center of Cuba. The city proper has a population of 2.1 million inhabitants, and it spans a total of 728.26 square kilometers (281.18 square miles) – making it the largest city by area, the most populous city, and the third largest metropolitan area in the Caribbean region. The city extends mostly westward and southward from the bay. The sluggish Almendares River traverses the city from south to north, entering the Straits of Florida a few miles west of the bay.
The city of Havana was founded by the Spanish in the 16th century and due to its strategic location it served as a springboard for the Spanish conquest of the continent becoming a stopping point for the treasure-laden Spanish galleons on the crossing between the New World and the Old World. King Philip II of Spain granted Havana the title of City in 1592. Walls as well as forts were built to protect the old city. The sinking of the U.S. battleship Maine in Havana's harbor in 1898 was the immediate cause of the Spanish–American War.
Contemporary Havana can essentially be described as three cities in one: Old Havana, Vedado and the newer suburban districts. The city is the center of the Cuban government, and home to various ministries, headquarters of businesses and over 90 diplomatic offices.

So I wanted to make a school girl outfit, but my heavy hand decided to make another hat. (I think I need to perfect my book binding, but it's good for now).
Hat: A stack of books made of felt and paper
Outfit:
Blouse is a cotton polkadot fabric
Skirt is a Gingham plaid with a contrasting black and white trim along the waist
Tie is made from the same fabric as the skirt. to fasten the tie i used lace. It has a Dickie like effect, so as it can be paired with other outfits.
All hand crafted and Hand sewn by ME. the blouse and skirt are lined to perfection :D

"let's take this outside" i said as if i were dressed to be sitting around in the snow (spoiler: i wasn't)
Or to give it its proper name: Heroes Of The Marine Engine Room, by William Goscombe John, The Pierhead. The memorial was originally intended to be for the thirty two engineers who stayed at their posts on the tragic night of 15th April 1912 when the Titanic (built in Belfast for the Liverpool based White Star Line) sank. However, World War I broke out before its completion, and despite some objections, its dedication was broadened to include all maritime engine room fatalities incurred during the performance of duty. Even so the monument is still identified most strongly with the Titanic and arouses great interest because of that particular association. This a quite wonderful piece, a little let down by landscaping rooted in the fifties and marooned from the Pierhead by the IOM ferry waiting area. It could be made more dramatic with little cost or effort. (What are those railings for? Whatever they're for they don't do it).
