Allards at Greenwich Concurs Show 2021

Rising 135 meters above the canyon floor, Fajada butte contains the well-known three slabs and spiral petroglyphs which mark the cycles of both sun and moon. The 2-3 meter sandstone slabs cast shadows of the late morning and midday sun to indicate both solstices and equinoxes. Unfortunately the implications of these findings have closed the Butte to the public in fear of damage or vandalism. This is shot from the same location as my last post but shot as a single capture zoomed up. The pano I posted really shrinks the size of this butte, and this is not a crop from the pano.

Rissa tridactyla

Bempton Cliffs

The Black-legged kittiwake, to give it its proper name, (Rissa tridactyla),Breed on cliffs in the summer months and spend the rest of their time at sea on the Atlantic.

The population is declining in some areas, partly due to a shortage of sandeels as a consequence of overfishing and climate change.

Back to what i enjoy doing best, spending some time on my favourite boat filled beach, you just never know what you are going to capture.

Cabot Tower a historical landmark located on Signal Hill a National Historic site in the City of St. John's on the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador Canada

Cabot Tower is a tower in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, situated on Signal Hill. Construction of the tower began in 1898 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of John Cabot's discovery of Newfoundland, and Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.

In 1901, Guglielmo Marconi received the first trans-Atlantic wireless message at a position near the tower, the letter "S" in Morse Code sent from Poldhu, Cornwall, United Kingdom. Cabot Tower is now the centre of the Signal Hill National Historic Site of Canada,] with walking trails and an interpretation centre.

Located at the highest point of Signal Hill, overlooking the city and the ocean, Cabot Tower is an example of late-Gothic Revival style. Built of irregularly coursed red sandstone, it is composed of a two-story, 30 foot, square structure with a three-story, 50 foot octagonal tower that stands on the southeast corner of the building. The corners are buttressed at the first floor level and further emphasized through the use of heavier blocks of stone. On the main body of the building, at the top of the second storey level, is a line of repeating pattern like an exaggerated dentil row or inverted crenelations. The attached tower, which houses the main entrance, is very plain with a double string course marking the divisions between second and third storeys and heavy corbel tables marking the eight corners of the turret at the flared upper level. The windows on both the corner turret and the body of the tower proper are rectangular and set under heavy stone lintels.

The architect of Cabot Tower, William Howe Greene, was a prominent St. John's architect and an associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Wikipedia

Would like to think i have done what the boats name suggests, the sun was setting behind me and the sky was not as good as this, I'm quite pleased with the final result.

Was on a little hike without a proper camera and tripod. So took 10 pictures with my phone and stacked them to simulate a long exposure. Seems...OK...

Looking good on both ends back on May 4, 1980 as the daily eastbound Toledo Peroria & Western freight headed by their lone GP30 gets an old fashioned boost out of Peoria by Nickle Plate 765 which had arrived the day before and would pull excursions the following weekend.

Photographs from a day spent at the Rocky Valley and part of the coastline at Tintagel. A beautiful winters day but no snow.

One of the things you got to give thought about in the highlands are the rivers .. usually out in the sticks there are no bridges and the catchments are large and flashy ... if you're caught unawares on the wrong side of one of these it's an awful long ways round usually on very rough terrain.

BNSF 9738 and 9246 pull the C-NRMALM out of St. Paul for the 75 mile trip to Alma. This was a nocturnal run across the Wayzata Sub but fortunately there was not a crew ready until 0800, so I still had a chance to get a couple shots and amazingly the clouds cleared off just as he got lights out of St. Paul.

Inside the Atkinson shop. An almost bewildering array of excellent tea and coffee, as well as some essential gear for the home barista.

Roasting is done on the premises.

While the IC black is a nice tribute to some locomotive heritage, POVA's proper scheme is pretty attractive, affording this uncoupled view at Albeni Falls, ID. September 2021.
