What can I say? Dekmantel did it again. The second edition of their Dekmantel Festival in the Amsterdamse Bos saw a huge influx from abroad. And rightfully so. Not only was the line up off the hook, the organisation was impecable. By far the best open air dance festival in Holland.

For regular visitors to my photostream, I apologise for the lack of individual captions in this set. Normally I to try to add a proper write-up for each image, but this batch was professionally shot for the event organisers and in such cases it's more important to get material online quickly for promotional purposes.
The Great Knaresborough Bed Race has been a firm fixture of this quiet Yorkshire countryside town for 46 years now. Once a year, over 90 teams exert a great deal of effort into designing and decorating beds, which are first paraded and then raced through the town in a madcap dash which culminates in crossing the River Nidd to reach the finish line. It is institutional British eccentricity at its very finest, and a thoroughly fun event to attend.
This year, participants were given a fancy dress theme of “Olympic Nations”, a topic with broad scope which allowed teams to get imaginative with their costumes!
