SHANGHAI
Shanghai is the largest city by population in the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the largest city proper by population in the world.
It is one of the four province-level municipalities of the PRC, with a total population of over 23 million as of 2010. It is a global city, with influence in commerce, culture, finance, media, fashion, technology, and transport. It is a major financial center and the busiest container port in the world.
Located in the Yangtze River Delta in eastern China, Shanghai sits at the mouth of the Yangtze River in the middle portion of the Chinese coast. The municipality borders Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces to the west, and is bounded to the east by the East China Sea.
For centuries a major administrative, shipping, and trading town, Shanghai grew in importance in the 19th century due to European recognition of its favorable port location and economic potential. The city was one of several opened to foreign trade following the British victory over China in the First Opium War and the subsequent 1842 Treaty of Nanking which allowed the establishment of the Shanghai International Settlement. The city then flourished as a center of commerce between east and west, and became the undisputed financial hub of the Asia Pacific in the 1930s.
However, with the Communist Party takeover of the mainland in 1949, trade was reoriented to focus on socialist countries, and the city's global influence declined.
In the 1990s, the economic reforms introduced by Deng Xiaoping resulted in an intense re-development of the city, aiding the return of finance and foreign investment to the city.
Shanghai is a popular tourist destination renowned for its historical landmarks such as The Bund, City God Temple and Yuyuan Garden, as well as the extensive and growing Lujiazui skyline. It has been described as the "showpiece" of the booming economy of mainland China.

Not a proper stitch because it was snowing and sleeting and my hands were going numb. I will go back with either warmer gloves or when it's not such wintery weather to take a proper panorama of this amazing sculpture by Arne Quinze. The orange is quite something else. It'll be here for 5 years so many opportunities to watch it change like Cityscape on the Toison D'Or.
On Thursday, I spotted this proper #climbing rope bag in use @CastleClimbing Looks like @mtnequipment

From this video, you can see the main arm goes to the left as it should, but it is not going far enough to catch on a locking lever, and so it returns to it's resting position, and the shutter does not operate. As far as I can tell, it looks like the charging lever at the top is not moving far enough to rotate the main arm into proper position. I'll have to find an adjustment for that.
Of course, at this point I don't know what is keeping the shutter blades in the recess, so I'll have to do some more disassembly.

I spent the last week taking photos all day and processing them all night at a summer music camp. As I'm going through and uploading them all to my site, I'm picking out a few a my favorite shots from the thousands that I took.
Name: Katri (Katriana) (roll the r!)
Doll type: Stardoll/Barbie hybrid
Head: Stardoll
Body: Elvis Barbie (pivotal)
Hair type: kanekalon
I tried to come up with an actual character bio but I was like "*drool* 8D duuuuuuuhhhhhhh..." v_v
This pic reminds me of something Natty would take :P except with very poor lighting xD
Gave her a hair treatment today and finished off with some frizz remedy :) her hair kicks ass now.
And I changed that annoying organza strap-sleeve-thing on her dress. Undid the stitching on the back and tucked it around the waist :3
I can't wait to get her a bigger wardrobe, and the fact that she can now fit into Barbie clothes and shoes rocks :D
She really reminds me of a Dynamite Girl <3 especially with her rooted lashes.... which is awesome because i am WAY to poor to snag a DG even though I love them XD
I am so happy to have her as a new addition to my doll collection... she really stands out :)
I'm growing a moustache to raise money for the London Tropical Zoo.
