This ambulance is owned by the Province of New Brunswick. When the photo was taken in Sussex NB, the paramedics were treating a gentleman who had tripped and fallen, striking his head. They then took him to hospital.

Ram Promaster Ambulances were designed by, and are built by, Malley Industries Inc. of Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada. The user-friendly design was developed with the input of a large number of paramedics.

Design features include having the correct equipment located where paramedics can reach it readily to treat patients while on the move. Safety of the paramedics is a high priority. The ambulance has a very low floor, making loading stretchers with patients easier and reducing the risk of injuries to paramedics. Headroom is excellent. The vehicle can carry a bariatric stretcher.

Malley Industries has been building this model since 2015. They have sold them to ambulance operators in several parts of Canada and the United States.

Ok, so let this be a lesson for you all, as it is to me. I went out to Killcreek Park, about a 30 minute drive from where I live, toting along my Nikon D-50 digital camera. Um, one thing I forgot to consider: my battery. It was dead. Completely dead. Fortunately, I had the old standbye in the car, my Nikon FM-10 with one roll (that's all I had) of 400 Kodak film in it. Oh! And the only lens I had for it was my $99 ProMaster 70-200mm lens, which I barely know how to use. I didn't have the original Nikon lens with me. But at least I was able to get some photos onto paper as they say.

On 13th - 14th of January 2018 in Vashkivtsi and on 15th of January 2018 in Chernivtsi took place Malanka Festival - costume carnival with fabulous procession.

Original name of the event is "Pereberia" which means changing clothes. The main participants are Malanka, Cossack, Buk Shandr, Ukrainian girl, bears, gypsies, grandfather and grandmother - disguised men and boys. Each year new characters appears that often reflected the most important events of the past year and shows them in new vision. Celebration in this format has been going on for more than 100 years.

Malanka Festival begins on January 13, 2018 about 20:00. Participants of the festival walk to the streets of Vashkivtsi and gather in groups, go from house to house and congratulate with Malanka. The roads pass decorated cars with loud music.

At sunrise the carnival moves to the roads of the city to meet visitors. Until the evening through Vashkivtsi village it is not easy to pass through - mummers "catch" cars, buses, even bicyclists and literally force them to take part in the festivital. Generously guests are sprinkled with wheat, wanting a rich and happy year.

Mandatory attribute of the celebration is bathing of participants of Malanka in a small river Teplichka. During bathing participants are cleansed of the evil spirit. Ignore the bathing procedure is prohibited.

Every year thousands of people from many parts of Ukraine and even from far abroad come to Vashkivtsi and number of fans of this carnival becomes more and more. Therefore citizens of Vashkivtsi are preparing for this day for a whole year: write scripts, prepare masks, sew festive clothes. Certainly one should visit this holiday of Ukrainian national traditions at least once in a lifetime.

On January 15, 2018 Malanka Festival move to Chernivtsi where took place fabulous procession on main streets of the city starting from 12:00. Last year 2017 it was 46 participated teams from different villages of Chernivtsi region.

A good shot of a Wild Turkey Meleagris gallopavo tom, in full strut, strutting along Kains Avenue in Albany, CA (with a hen on the left, and someone in the background - these turkeys gather a crowd...) Taken by a Nikon N75 with a Promaster 7 100-400mm ƒ 4.5-6.7 AF-D-type lens on Kodak Portra 400 film.

Unlike my usual bird photos, taken at the long end of the lens, this may be at only 250-300mm! (he was that big and close...)

I was going through some images and came across another from the D810 Launch Party at B&C Photo in Las Vegas.

The thing that struck me was how the umbrella filled in Dani's pupils. Her light eyes look almost other worldly here.

I am really loving the freedom of the constant light source provided by some fairly inexpensive LED lights.

Only one light was used to light Dani. The background was picking up the in store overhead fluorescents.
