This didn't work out quite as I liked, the ice container was almost empty, not sure if I'll get another chance this week so here it is.
Projects I'm planning on making for Dressing Downton. See more on my blog here: star-spangledheart.blogspot.com/2011/12/dressing-downton-...

For over a year now, Elisa and I have been looking out for opportunities to contribute to our Found Shadow Project. Here are some of the results.
We set up these rules for the project:
1. Only 'found' shadows could be entered in the project (nothing is staged!).
2. The object casting the shadow must be out of frame.
3. Only available light, natural or otherwise. may be used.

Ok, so here we go onto another big project; something I have been wanting to do and upon pondering for sometime; it's time to get this lined up for 2014. Basic rules are one picture per day and I will not use my iPhone.. my primes will carry the all the visual work. Strobes are permitted and upon finishing the project, I will give myself a gift.... a printed photo book.

Inspiration: Portait of Marjorie Ferry by Tamara de Lempicka ~ 1932
Result: Portrait of Marjorie Furry
Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB, Micron 005 & 02 pens in a Moleskine plain journal
Location: At home
Note: It's overcast, wet & chilly weather... and I have a head cold ...so I am falling back on fanart and shamelessly using Tamara de Lempicka's work as an inspiration while my own imagination just sits there like old porridge in my skull. It was fun....between sneezes. Is it just me, or do all her women have feline faces? Probably me....aaaanyway ...going to go pass out now.

Germany - Lubeck: Theater Figuren Museum.
(This set within a set is dedicated to Tiger Lair - Susan who has collected Puppets all her life and is a good friend of mine!)
About a thousand theatre puppets from several continents and centuries prove that puppeteers have always and everywhere succeeded in holding a mirror to their societies. They have used ventriloquist’s puppets, the famous „Kasper“, marionettes, shadow puppets, five-in-one puppets as well as mechanical „smokers“ – to mention but a few. And, of course, they have relied on all the attributes of theatres: posters, props and requisites, musical instruments. All that can be seen in this outstanding museum which is said to be the greatest of its kind on earth.
A fascinating world within historical walls that has already delighted thousands and thousands of visitors.

very funny
I still have a bad cold, although I improved quite a bit after lunch. So I'm home today. It's too cold to sit in the garden and I don't feel up to standing and ironing (I'd be well enough for work if I were). So I sat on the sofa with my laptop and wrote up some of my holiday notes from this pretty notebook that I carried on my travels.

New walkway and tree (Sunburst Locust). The Cutleaf Sumac is in full Fall colour and the Japanese Quince is starting to drop its leaves. The European Birch is suffering from Birch Bark Borer and is down to one trunk. You can see this area of the garden 6 years ago in the following photo: www.flickr.com/photos/jpnewell/10478219504/
The first late night at work after the clocks have gone back. I stay late(ish) on Tuesdays before going to the pub quiz.
I'm disappointed with how blurred this is.

So one of my first projects is all about personal space; I figured I could use this photo of being on the bus as personal space as I do spend a lot of my time on the bus to go and see my girlfriend who lives in Newcastle :)

After making myself an omelet for breakfast this morning, I promptly got a text from Amanda about brunch. Obviously I said yes. I met her at Egg House Cafe, where we talked about Taco Giorno. That chick actually bought a ravioli press! Looks like our Raviotillas just hit the next level of legitimacy.
Mom and Dad came to town to rebuild part of the fence at Westridge Manor. I headed straight over there after brunch and helped them out. Emily’s out of town, so what else am I gonna do, right? I showed off the X a little bit, and then we got to work! We got just about the whole thing done too. I really expected fence building to be a lot more complicated.
As we finished working, I got on my phone and realized there was yet another mass shooting today. This one was in a small town in Texas, of all places. It’s still too early to talk about gun control though, so don’t bring it up.
Kitty made tasty fajitas for dinner, and so I paid extra close attention when she made the tortillas. Turns out she made flour tortillas, so it didn’t help me much. Back at home I started watching Mindhunter. So far so good!
A small project consisting of setting up a shoot with random passersby and getting them to pull a face.
All participants where informed of the project and asked if they wanted to be a part. To see the rest of the project you can visit cambrils.tumblr.com/
Lighting is provided by a softbox umbrella camera right and a bare strobe for hair light.
Why do they always want what the other one has?????
We were on a family vacation this week, so as you can probably guess, I have a lot of shots with 2 subjects.
I enjoyed "777 project" with yoshiko314 and yagik, that proposed by yagik.
I used a metal texture with soft light blend mode at 100% then erased off my daughter. I had been planning on taking her to the river for some senior pictures and wanted the parasol to go with the setting. I loved the result. We were, however, fighting the rain and with it very dark light. The on camera speedlight flash saved me.
...not from the camera. the roll came unraveled a bit - i like it...

I wanted the top of the quilt to look like the paint pouring in. The blue and green ribbons swirl around it, mixing up the colors.
