For this project I used the following mediums: Photography, Illustrator, Drawing, and Photoshop. To start off I created the flowers by hand using color pencils and uploaded them to Photoshop and made modifications to them. Along with that I uploaded a colorless sketch of leaves that I made. The chameleon was done within Illustrator. The leaves were found around Milwaukee and also were some pictures that my roommate took at a garden show which I asked for permission to use. The hand within the photo is my hand. To start off I believe a chameleon is a signifier of color it adapts to its environment based on mood, temperature, and or surroundings. I wanted to make the chameleon blend in to its environment which is green while making it different thus why it was done in Illustrator to signify that it’s not supposed to be part of the environment. Next I wanted to make some color pop out within the environment that looked different so I colored in flowers and then modified it a bit within Photoshop to give it a little more character and also stay with the theme of collaboration. For the bottom I added my hand along with a blank sketch to represent construction of the piece along with curiosity of what is to come. Along with that I added drop shadows to most of the things presented to give more of stance that it is popping out and actually there.

When it came to the 4 themes I incorporated collaboration by the use of different mediums (digital and physical) with follows they were drawn then modified (erased/morphed/color changed) within Photoshop. Curiosity would be incorporated with the idea that there is an animal within in the scene that sort of blends in the environment. Community with the sake that its incorporating different mediums the hand can be a signifier of community. Contrast by the use of drop shadow and stokes to distinguish each medium and object. Discovery by the environment that is portrayed within the Illustration, there is a lot to discover within a jungle.

Project 366-1 (2010) February 11, 2010 42/365

I got to the buttonhole row on my sweater project and the directions said, "make your favorite buttonhole". I've never made one I liked very well, so I went to www.knittinghelp.com. Under "Advanced Techniques" I found the "One-Row Buttonhole" with written directions and a video to watch. I did it, although my first try was too small. Finally, I made 6 buttonholes and they are excellent! What a resource the web can be!

Part of a 366 day project

"Just where I am January" all photos in January are taken just where I am, work, home, out shopping no special trips to take a photo.

I'm thinking of putting a few temporary streaks of colour in my hair. I was going to do it in the winter, to brighten up the days. But I might do it for my holiday/birthday trip next week. But it seems all the one-day spray-in ones are fairly pastel.

There was a gorgeous metallic purple one that claims to be temporary but it is a shampoo that lasts for 8 weeks. I don't want my whole head that colour and I'm not sure how it will take on my white hair. It was only $5. I guess I could buy it and try to carefully do only a small bit of my hair.

Today I flew down to Christchurch for an assessment appointment at the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Unit. I was there for about two hours and learned a lot about how it works and what it can do. They beleive I would benefit from the therapy so arrangements are being made for me to start therapy on 9th January. I will stay in Christchurch for eight weeks and go into the chamber for a couple of hours every weekday.

Our house is undergoing a facelift, so my most used tools lately are drywall and painting tools. Since white drywall mud on white drywall is pretty boring to look at, I used the pink to represent the mud. There is a brand of patch plaster that applies pink and turns white when dry:) The small circles represent drywall screws. Silver leafing was used for the knife. The quilting was mostly done in a free motion style.

This is a project that is very personal to me. With a goal to reflect about things in my life by going beyond my comfort zone and understanding todays world view through the life stories of others.

I will this time not only interview strangers but also people I know to have a larger scope of interviews.

Hope you enjoy it.

18 year old french student. Her favorite color is green and her favorite food is seafood.

Her dream is that her "life becomes a voyage" and two words she used to describe herself was "Fighter", when I asked why, she just said :"If at first you don't succeed, try try again" and the second word to describe herself was "Daring" because she could leave everything to find adventure "I don't know how to ride a motocycle, but I would do it anyways if someone asked me."

Her favorite childhood memory was when her parents where still together and they where all having a great time together around the pool. Her worst childhood memory was seeing her family fall apart.

If Barbara could change anything in today's world it would be the "individualistic and hypocrite mentality of our society."

I then asked her what the word "Happiness" meant for her and she replied: "It's the ephemeral feeling of really existing."
