Men of the Special Brigade load oil or gas drums into emplaced Livens projectors.

The projectors were developed in the summer of 1916 as a replacement for flamethrowers. Soon they replaced gas cylinders as well.

Livens projectors were first used on a mass scale at Arras on April 4, 1917.

After watching some Charlie and Lola on the wall, first one panel came loose, and then (when we attempted to fix it) all the panels disconnected.

Shots of the wall were pointless as they were either too dark or the flash eliminated the projection.

Dirty Projectors

last weekend was a little crazy. it started with a speeding ticket in red hook, then a hipster bar in hudson full of mutants, this guy the next morning trying to sell me a projector, a night in a cabin with no electicity or running water, watching storms below in every direction and a mouse jumping on top of me all night while I was trying to sleep, going back to kingston and squeezing a dollhouse into my already overloaded car, natalie and I not showering for days during all of this, going to my parents house to help them with packing, and ending up at my place to pack my things to put into a moving truck at the crack of dawn yesterday

question about speeding ticket, especially since these days since tickets stay on your record for three years. I was getting off the taconic and didn't see speed signs, it was raining and dark. when I looked into my rearview mirror, I noticed a menacing, tailgaiting SUV. I sped up because I thought the dude was going to hit my car, then realized it was a police car after he turned on the twirly police lights. I stopped in front of a sign that said 40 mph limit and saw at that point that I had been going 52 as a result of trying to get out of menacing SUV's way since there was only one lane. does anyone think this is worthy of going to court and trying to contest?

See red-cyan anaglyph version.

Cross-view stereo photo. To view, cross your eyes until you see four images. Then slowly relax until the two middle images snap into one. Your right eye should point towards the left image, and your left eye towards the right image. See one of the Stereo/3D pools for more info.

What's it good for:

This neat projector uses a mirror instead of a lens, allowing it to project large images at short throw distances.
