"I just point my camera at what the people want to see
Man it's a two way mirror and you cant blame me"
-Jack Johnson
7.25.2010. Day nineteen of 365.
Lazy, lazy sunday. Glorious in its nothingness. New vintage velvet jacket showcased in this photo. Can't wait until it gets cold enough for me to wear it!
Thoughts?

I bought 5 random varieties of Hellebores last summer/autumn with no idea of what was included. They are still establishing themselves around the Bay tree in the north facing front garden and I wasn't expecting much (anything) this winter but this one has chucked out an absolute stunner of a flower and I really hope it thrives in future years.
It's a similar shot to one I took in January of a different variety next to this but I couldn't resist sharing this beauty.
Saw these on top of a canal boat moored on the Chesterfield Canal on this afternoons walk. Made me smile.
One of those days where taking a photo wasn't high on the agenda so took advantage of dog sitting The Menace (Cath's parents' dog). Don't be fooled by the sleepy "I'm a good boy" pose here. He's a non stop ball of furious energy.

I tried at first to get the whole scuplture in shot, but I could not catch the feeling I was getting when standing under it, and I much preferred this close up shot, looking up. This is pretty much straight out of camera. I considered mono, but I liked the blue too much. In the end, I just upped the saturation and luminance of that wee spot of red
"I asked myself "What is the myth you are living?" and found that I did not know. So ... I took it upon myself to get to know "my" myth and I regarded this as the task of tasks ... I simply had to know what unconscious or preconscious myth was forming me." ~C.J. Jung
2010 saw me complete my undergraduate degree. I lost two very important women in my life unexpectedly. A great friend moved to the other side of the world. Discovered new friends and lived for new experiences... I was up, down, but mostly all around on most days, but not a day went by that I did not pick up my camera and take a picture.
Some people are blessed with a photographic memory, but mere mortals rely on photographs to tell stories. At the beginning of my journey, I did not know what to expect from this project, I was sure I'd run out of ideas by Day 70, but I managed to claw my way to the finish line.
Project 365 has taught me that there's nothing absurd about making any attempt to get acquainted with ourselves. I also learned that each day presents something that can spark our imagination. That a whole year can be recounted in a series of pictures. At the end of it all, it matters most only to one person, but what a wonderful feeling to be able to share the journey with the most amazing people, family, friends (near and far) and perfect strangers.
This is my story, for which I make no apologies or excuses. I just...am. And I have you to thank. :o)

Reminds me of the book Moonfleet, by J. Meade Falkner, 1898.

From Wikipedia:
In 1757, Moonfleet is a small village along the coast of southern England. The village takes its name from a formerly prominent local family, the Mohunes. The main character is John Trenchard, an orphan who lives with his aunt, Miss Arnold. The village church includes the sexton, Mr. Ratsey, and Parson Glennie, who also teaches in the village school. Elzevir Block is the landlord of the Mohune Arms. The inn is nicknamed the Why Not?, a pun on the Mohune coat of arms, which includes a cross-pall in the shape of the letter "Y". Mr. Maskew is the local magistrate, who has a daughter, Grace. Village legend tells of the notorious Colonel John "Blackbeard" Mohune who is buried in the family crypt under the church. He is reputed to have stolen a diamond from King Charles I and hidden it. His ghost is said to wander at night looking for it and the mysterious lights in the churchyard are attributed to his activities.
