Seed heads by a dry stone wall.
After a day of 80mph winds with storm Eunice I was intending to photograph the still rough seas but then I saw these seed heads in late afternoon light and liked the calm of the image after such a jarring day.
Artwork close-up from last night. This was a very last minute photo to end the day. I fell asleep during the basketball game and at that time the Raptors were behind, and when I woke up Claire said the Raptors won. So that was a productive nap!
Scary night out at York Maze Hallowscream. Clowns with chainsaws and men with axes - and we had to wear masks!

Here is the finished product from the red yarn a couple days ago. My wife made a crochet Muno from Yo Gabba Gabba for our two year old son for his birthday.

I was so busy I forgot to have lunch today. Felt like a boost at around 2pm went downstairs to make myself a cup of tea and was reminded that I still needed to eat.
Today's Project 365 photo is another "Then & Now" to commemorate the 157th Anniversary of the Eureka Rebellion and the 38th Anniversary of when this original photo was taken.
The original one was taken by a photographer from The Courier newspaper and shows my Grandfather, Lex Rizzoli when he was the Mayor of Ballarat, with Prime Minister Gough Whitlam and the always stylish Al Grassby.
After being stored in a drawer for many years, the flag was hung above the stairs of the gallery. It later moved into a climate and light controlled environment and last year was sent to South Australia for restoration. It arrived back in Ballarat a couple of days ago and is available for public viewing again as of today.

celebrated jamie's birthday tonight. we started off at lucky lab, and then made our way to plan b to see my friends band (and her boyfriend).

Oh no, My head is spinning a bit. We went to an art auction tonight in the heart of Sydney. Alex's Mum's school held an auction for the pre-school kids' artworks. One artwork was auctioned for $1000 - a group of 3 year old's sold a piece worth $750 and another piece for $750... I felt like such an under-achiever - so I decided to soak my subtle sorrow with some free champagne...
I'm just sobering up now, but the walls are still a bit tilted :o) Got work tomorrow. Hope you're having a happy and inebriated weekend dear friends. Drink responsibly... or at least have someone near by to drag your drunk ass back to the car and drive you safely home :o)
I got a new toy today. The Yongnuo 50mm F1.8 lens. A Chinese copy, of a Canon nifty-fifty, made to work with Nikon. This should be interesting. I plan to try it out on both my D300s and the D500. Watch this space for samples in the coming weeks!
My fruit bowl sitting on top of a round place mat. Did major housecleaning today, and this just popped out at me as I did... no editing done at all.
My friend Katrina gave me this about 13 years ago because she broke one of my toy castles. It says phrases like "I am such a space cadet" "Hey man that's cosmic" "I am totally spaced out" in a robot voice when you throw it and it hits something. The batteries are still good after all these years, which is pretty amazing.

Jan 24 I went to Croft Castle today. I took loads of macro and twisted tree shots that were better than this...but I've never seen a pink tree before!! I just had to upload as this caught the highlight of my day.
I got closer to the tree and it appears to be wrapped in plastic. Not sure why.
Caden has started a habit of coming out to hang out with me after Noah falls asleep. Caden claims he can't sleep without an adult around. But here he's quite comfortable with Ally the Aligator and his "Big Blue Blankie".
Quite possibly the only development "gap" on Vancouver's main drag, Granville Street, that will probably remain a "gap" because of it's limited width.

I'm a little unsure about this picture. I like it. But it's such a nice day outside, I'll probably go outside again later and take a few more pictures.

These cosy little knitted slipper things are just what I need first thing in the morning now the weather is getting cooller...
LOL this morning it was a nippy 18 deg in my kitchen...go on you can laugh... when you consider we have just had a long hot summer where the nightime temp does not go much below 27-28 deg.
I long for some cool weather when I can rug up and snuggle under the covers in the afternoons and read a book.
It's been raining on and off this week, so an umbrella seemed like an appropriate photo. This sign has been on top of the Insurance Exchange Building since the early 1960s. Even though it is the former logo of the Travelers Insurance Company, the sign is still maintained by the current building owner. The sign is more than 3 stories tall, and is an icon in downtown Des Moines.
I took several photos of this, and had no idea which one to select for the daily shot. Even though the sign is neon red, I ended up going with a b/w photo because I liked how it gave the feel of an earlier era as well as the look of the fog rolling over the top of the building in the background.
Day-71: Life is like doing math, if you go too easy, probably you're doing something wrong :-).

Today's Project365 photo is of one of the fringe locations of the BIFB (Ballarat International Foto Biennale).
It is the old butchers shop in Seymour Street. To be honest, I never even knew it was there, but then again, there are so many old disused corner stores around town that you drive past without a second thought.
The exhibitors weren't here today, but I was able to check out most of the photos through the window. Some really great shots.
The BIFB winds up this weekend, so if you haven't had a chance, get along and see some terrific work by Australian and International Photographers.

I've got no thrilling photos from today, so it's very much a snapshot of my lunchtime stroll.
Here, looking pretty grey, you can see the nicely cut trees in Reynolds Park. I had just been jumped on by a muddy dog, so the greyness matched my mood. ;)
