On June 2, 2011 Lubuto Library Project introduced its innovative LubutoLiteracy program, which teaches reading with 100 computer-based reading lessons in each of the seven major Zambian languages, a total of 700 reading lessons, based on the Zambia government curriculum.
Zambian youth earned school fees for creating the Etoys lessons on the OLPC laptops, working with Zambian teachers. Young artists from the LubutoArts program also earned school fees by illustrating the lessons with computer graphics.
The Ministry of Education was represented at the launch by the Acting Chief Curriculum Specialist, Mr. B.M. Mwendende, standing in for the Permanent Secretary. U.S. Ambassador Mark Storella also made remarks at the event.
LubutoLiteracy was supported by a grant from the EIFL Public Library Innovation Program, and was made possible with strong support from the Ministry of Education. The One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) Foundation donated six XO 1.5 laptops. The Etoys-based lessons will run on any computer platform and can supplement classroom instruction as well as teaching out-of-school children in Lubuto Libraries.

Our chair is a 3-Dimensional, abstract interpretation of a Mondrian painting. Its purpose is to be an aesthetically pleasing sculpture. Our inspiration came from Mondrian paintings and the process of transforming a 2-Dimensional artwork into a 3-Dimensional Form.
We really enjoy participating in art initiatives within the local community and contributing to the OCRI Breakfast Program.

The Seabiscuit program took place on August 2003 at Countryside.
Seabiscuit's former jockey lives locally and he described the world of thoroughbred racing in the 1930s when Seabiscuit was the “all-star” of all time. He shared a scrapbook filled with his racing career highlights and shared many memories. The library was filled to capacity that day.
