El Encargado de Negocios de la Embajada de los Estados Unidos en Uruguay, Sr. Bradley Freden, brindó una recepción a los científicos que participaron del Programa de Intercambio en Sustentabilidad Medioambiental coordinado por el Ïnstitute for Training and Develpment¨ (ITD) y patrocinado por el Departamento de Estado.

 

El Programa permitió a 10 profesionales uruguayos en temas medioambientales viajar al Estado de Massachusetts por 6 semanas donde compartieron información y mejores practicas con colegas norteamericanos.

 

Por su parte 5 profesionales de los Estados Unidos viajaron a Uruguay para realizar el mismo tipo de intercambio con organizaciones, empresas y oficinas de Gobierno relacionadas con el Medio Ambiente.

President Gee delivering an address during the Memorial Stadium Dedication Ceremony. The stadium was built September 23, 1950. It was dedicated to the 76 students who died fighting in World War II. Gee is speaking on behalf of the deceased soldiers, and reading each of their names.

College of DuPage recently completed its first class of the Women in STEM mentorship program. Designed to increase the number of women entering Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields, the program provides potential incoming students an opportunity to form a network of support with COD faculty as they explore their options for higher education and a career in STEM.

Karate, Fútbol, Ajedrez y Zumba con el “Team Casa del Deporte” amenizaron la divertida mañana.

 

La Escuela Patricio Lynch, del sector de Miraflores de Viña del Mar, despidió la semana con una dinámica y divertida mañana gracias a la visita del equipo de la Casa del Deporte y su ya clásico programa de relajo escolar “Clínicas Deportivas y Recreos Entretenidos 2014”. En la actividad, los alumnos del establecimiento perteneciente a la Corporación Municipal de Viña del Mar pudieron disfrutar de instrucciones de diversos deportes a cargo de profesores especialmente calificados en disciplinas.

 

Es así como la jornada incluyó Karate, con los profesores Casa del Deportes Danton González y Nicolás Cerda; Ajedrez, con el GM Iván Morovic y el docente Raul Molina; fútbol con los ex futbolistas profesionales Gabriel “Coca” Mendoza, Claudio “Tanque” Álvarez y Luis Lufi, y todo el ritmo de las coreografías de Zumba a cargo del “Team Casa del Deporte”.

 

Los alumnos disfrutaron de una entretenida mañana junto a sus pares, docentes y administrativos, quienes se mostraron muy satisfechos para con esta iniciativa que recorre todas las semanas los principales establecimientos educacionales de Viña del Mar.

Renaissance Minority Male Mentoring Program {3MP} is a platform that provides comprehensive activities that promotes the personal development, academic improvement and other social and educational advancement needs of our minority male students at Winston-Salem State University. The program was originally developed to increase retention rates among minority males, but we realized that all of our males need assistance in different academic, social, and professional areas. So, this program is designed to provide the inspiration and motivation that they need to reach their goals. At the same time, it creates an unwavering brotherhood that supports and expects academic excellence without excuse.

Mission Statement

Renaissance Minority Male Mentoring Program {3MP} is designed to meet the needs of a targeted group of incoming underrepresented/underserved male freshman and transfer students. The program will focus on retention/academic readiness, mentorship, identity/self-esteem, leadership, community involvement, servant leadership, volunteerism, and cultural enrichment, serves in transforming the culture of all males at Winston-Salem State University by reaching their hearts and minds through mentoring relationships and cohort experiences.

Vision

Students in the Renaissance Program will be prepared and commissioned to model the mission of the program and positively influence their peers.
