Much the same view as CIMG0639_1 but not only has the online card punch been moved to the front of the power supply part 'B' but also my IBM keypunch has been placed in front of magnetic tape deck 'A' under the window. This is one of the older type IBM keypunches with rounded corners, in fact a bit more than a keypunch as it has not just a program held on a punched card which rotates as in a normal keypunch but it also has a plugboard and three or four input/output sockets on the back. I bought it with a Friden Flexowriter and I unwisely rejected the bundle of cables which came with it which allowed data to be transeferred between the two devices. This enabled not only paper tape to punched card transfer and punched card to paper tape transfer but also the printing of a deck of cards onto paper without using a computer. Not that the paper tape was in ASCII code but an extended binary coded decimal code, probably EBCDIC but different manufacturers and countries had local versions of it, for instance the UK had a pound sign and 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 for the fractions of a penny in the day when there were 960 farthings to the pound. Shame it wans't a thousand :-)
Note most of the many reels of second hand wire hanging from six inch nails in the roof truss must have been tidied away. Just a few remain.

PSI had an idea that the more wealthy people in the cities can afford to buy PUR and provide it to their families in the villages where they do not have running water and have to drink contaminated water. So, PSI created a campaign called the “Pick Up a Miracle and Send it Back Home.” They’ve teamed up with the largest retailer in Kenya -- Nakumatt, to run the campaign. The pilot was a success for everyone involved, and now they’ll scale it up and support it with radio ads. It will be interesting to see if Kenyans can cross-subsidize PUR in this way through this Miracle program.

actividades deportivas y recreativas.
