Participants complete reconnaissance operations and report findings at the incident command post during a chemical emergency response exercise. The practical scenario-based exercise is part of the OPCW pilot programme to develop a global pool of trainers for chemical emergency preparedness, organised by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) with support from the Government of Italy. Participants learned how to respond to chemical incidents and how to impart training skills to others to do the same.
The course was held from 23 to 27 March 2026 at the OPCW Centre for Chemistry and Technology, and CBRN Defense Centre (Defensie CBRN Centrum) of the Dutch Armed Forces in Vught, The Netherlands.
Title page from the theatre programme for a production of "The Maid of the Mountains" at the Hippodrome Theatre, Keighley, staged by Keighley Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society in May 1950.
Keighley Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society's production of "The Maid of the Mountains" played at the Hippodrome Theatre in Keighley for six nights (with a Saturday matinee) from Monday 1st to Saturday 6th May 1950. The musical was written by Frederick Lonsdale, with lyrics by Harry Graham and music by H. Fraser Simson. The KAODS production was produced by Gerald Seymour, with musical director R. Lewis Scargill.
The musical had previously been performed at the Hippodrome in 1933, by the Macdonald & Young Company, and then by the Amateurs themselves in 1938. It was the first of two full-scale shows staged by the Amateurs at the Hippodrome in 1950, the second being a production of "No! No! Nanette!" in October.
The story of "The Maid of the Mountains" involves a set of bandits, led by Baldasarre (played by Frederick W. Pye), who have decided to end their criminal ways, having evaded capture for so long and made their fortunes. Band member Teresa (Eileen Widdop), the Maid of the Mountains herself, loves Baldasarre but his eyes are focussed on Angela (Freda W. Pickles), the daughter of the old Governor, General Malone (Ernest Marsden), who has singularly failed to capture Baldasarre and his band. Baldassare's bravura sees him disguise himself as the new Governor to win over Angela but Teresa betrays him and he ends up in prison on Devil's Island. Eventually he is rescued and recognises that he should be with Teresa.
Other people in the cast included Arthur B. Hird, Geoffrey A. Richardson, Arthur Day, Donald Judson, John H. Crabtree, Leonard M. Stockdale, George Bailey, Margaret Best, Betty Rushworth, John O'Connell, James I. Dewhirst and Elsie Greenwell.
The 40-page programme was printed by The Keighley Printers Ltd. of High Street, Keighley. It measures approximately 185mm by 250mm. The programme was part of an anonymous donation made in 2022.
