Keighley Playhouse's production of 'Oliver Twist', by Guy Williams, adapted from the classic novel by Charles Dickens, was performed at the Playhouse from Monday 27th November to Saturday 2nd December 1995. This was the third play in the 1995/96 season.
The play is introduced in the programme: "The story of Oliver Twist is perhaps one of the best known works of Charles Dickens having been on the musical scene as 'Oliver!' over many years and currently playing to sell out audiences at the London Palladium. Our play tonight is the original story arranged as a two act play by Guy Williams but the characters, dialogue and plot are all as Dickens intended and faithfully interpreted by our two very experienced directors who are Keighley Playhouse Members of long standing."
The part of Oliver Twist was taken by Bruce Sturrock (as a young man) and Robin Leitch (as a boy). The Artful Dodger was played by Paul Steere, and Fagin was played by Michael Kennedy. Angelo Clarke played Bill Sikes and Melanie Wilcock played Nancy. The extensive cast was rounded out by Robert Lister, Stuart Yoxall, Alison Frazer, Marek Musolf, Geoff Donaldson, Mavis Walsh, David Hardman, Barbara Lowens, Nick Goodwin, Rachael Trenouth, Joe Gibson, Edward Cowen, Barbara Chafer, Maria Brindloe, Wendy Todd, Barbara Lowens, Kate Fielding, Gwenda Marsden, Joanna Barker, Fiona Barker, Anneka Latta, Timothy Steere, Matthew Bowring, Daniel Wadsworth and Chris Yoxall.
The 16-page programme, printed by Kay Jay Print of Cross Hills, is part of the Christine Broadley Collection, donated by Christine in 2024.
