AE Exchange, the leading global remittance, foreign exchange and payment solutions brand, observed the International Migrants Day on 18th Dec. 2014. The remittance major, whose customer base is dominated by migrants from world over, planned many activities to celebrate this enterprising community of expatriates. Towards this it ran an exciting contest on its official Facebook page and the chose the winners, who are expatriates, and offered them a memorable evening. The select customers were taken on a royal ride in an elegant stretch limousine and then hosted them a lavish dinner on a Dhow Cruise in Dubai.

UAE Exchange also sponsored a special musical programme live on NTV, the popular TV channel. This ghazals nite by popular singer Umbayee, saw millions of expatriates enjoying from across the diasporas. Viewers could call in and request their favourite songs. Special screening was arranged in labour camps too, where after a tough day’s of toil in the sun, the migrant brothers sat together to enjoy a wonderful musical journey. UAE Exchange arranged for special call in facility for the inmates of the labour camp too. The brand, which brings world class services to the expatriate community, offered these tokens of gratitude and appreciation by making their special day memorable.

21st April 2008 - I really wanted to pick this programme up when I went to the concert, which was in November 2007, but by the time I got to the tables, they were all sold out.

Luckily enough I was surfing around on the net, and managed to find www.bandtshirts.com.au", which had some stock left over.

Quick smart I made the purchase! There's a back story to this, and if you're interested, click here. But I'm am stoked about the purchase, and those guys at BandTshirts.com.au, especially Dean! Cheers!

The days when Forest Green Rovers played at The Lawn, were a non-league club and spectators could eat meat in the ground! Rovers, then in Conference, issued this 24-page programme (£1) for a January 1999 Sunday afternoon FA Trophy third round visit by lower league Witney Town. A Sunday afternoon crowd of 806 saw Alex Sykes hit a hat-trick as Rovers won 4-0 in a low-key encounter.

On 23rd March 2022, Colonel Ilyas Isxaq, Deputy Police Commissioner of the Bari region in Puntland, is photographed at the inauguration of a UNDP-supported two month leadership training programme at Armo Police Training Academy in Armo, Puntland, Somalia.

The training programme is for one hundred police station commanders and deputy commanders, and covers how to run a police station, how to work with communities and how to coordinate with other state institutions. The Academy is the only functioning police academy outside of Mogadishu and, since its establishment, has trained 3,000 officers including all the police force in Puntland.

According to Colonel Isxaq, “I joined the police force in January 2007 and, from a very young age, always wanted to be police officer. The police play such an important part in securing our national security. But it's not just that - one of our most vital roles is building public trust in the police force so that we can help protect communities”.

UNDP plays a key role in joint UN efforts to support the Government of Somalia to increase access to justice and strengthen the capacity of institutions to build peace and stability across the country. This has included, for example, a UNDP-funded four-year university scholarship to study law - with many of the students coming from the police force. In addition, UNDP provides ongoing trainings to police officers; has funded a substantial number of police buildings including Puntland’s CID and Community Police Units in several cities; has donated operational equipment such as vehicles and radios; and has helped the government write the Women’s Charter which stipulates a target of 30% for women police officers.

The 2018 UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme was launched today at the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre, Bonn. 19 mid- to senior-level TVET leaders from UNEVOC Centres and other institutions from 18 countries around the world are participating in the programme. The programme aims to enable the participants to hone their leadership skills through nine modules guided by key international experts in a highly engaging environment.
