One of my favourite toys to get when I was a young child was hot wheels. These toys allowed me to use my imagination and offered hours of entertainment.
As I reflected on my childhood years, I decided on this chair design not only because I loved Hotwheels, but also because the chair represents a good friendship I had as a child. I had a friend when I was very little and we always played together. I was his only friend. Other children did not want to play with him because he was burned in a fire and his physical appearance was different, but we hung around together all the time. When I moved away he gave me a hot wheels car – his favourite one. I no longer have that car, but I was able to find one that was almost the same which I keep on my computer and it reminds me of him all the time.

The FFHL conducts a Child Sponsorship Program to provide primary and secondary educational financial assistance for economically marginalized families who are unable to pay for their annual tuition of $500.00 due to economic difficulties. FFHL believes that every child should have an opportunity to an education and no one should be turned away from attending class. The child sponsorship program is a seven year commitment from the 6th grade through the 12th grade.
The children attend the Terra Santa schools, administered by the Franciscan Custody, which are unique because their philosophy is to bring individuals together without any bias either to social class or to Christian or non-Christian students in terms of educational activities. The schools acquaint the student with the values of family life and of society so as to benefit from both. Each school attempts to meet the needs of all those who are deprived physically, morally, economically, and to welcome them as family. The policy of the Franciscan Terra Santa Schools has always been openness and service towards all.
In 2014, the FFHL Child Sponsorship Program provided $109,000 for 218 economically marginalized children, who would otherwise not be receiving an education, to attend classes in schools in Jerusalem, Jaffa, Ramleh and Bethlehem.

A manhã de sábado, dia 21, foi de festa no bairro São Gabriel, na região Nordeste da capital, que recebeu, na Praça Tião dos Santos (Rua Operário Silva, s/nº), as atividades de lazer e cultura do programa Brincando na Vila.Para esta edição do programa, realizado pela Prefeitura de Belo Horizonte, por meio da Secretaria Municipal de Esporte e Lazer (Smel), foi desenvolvida uma proposta de ação integrada com vários programas da Smel, o que resultou no oferecimento de mix de serviços, como aula de ginástica com orientações para a prática correta de exercícios físicos, e Rua de Lazer, com vários equipamentos e brinquedos pedagógicos, incluindo cama elástica, pula-pula e jogos de mesa.

“Nosotros empezamos con la iniciativa que Norita, con el grupo de agricultoras, de iniciar a hacer ahorros. Entonces, nosotras no nos negamos a la iniciativa que ella tuvo, y así emprendimos. A través del ahorro nos organizamos e hicimos la directiva. Luego, cada 15 días empezamos a hacer las reuniones, y cada una iba aportando lo que iba a ahorrar. En mi cantón hay mujeres interesadas en ahorrar de esta manera. Creemos otro grupo, y pues ya estamos viendo ahí con Norita también, si ella nos va a asesorar a estas mujeres para que ellas también se puedan organizar. Yo nunca he hecho un préstamo con el sistema bancario pero en el grupo de autoahorro podemos prestar con un interés del 3%. La ventaja es que aquí, para hacer préstamos, no tenemos reglas. Quizá necesitamos cumplir con más requisitos para obtener un préstamo en un banco. Aquí lo hacemos a base de confianza entre todas, vamos haciendo los préstamos”, explica Keily Amely Landaverde del “Banquito” de mujeres de Las Pilas, San Ignacio Chalatenango. Estas mujeres llevan un año ahorrando en su banquito llamado “Cultivando El Ahorro”, todas son agricultoras y algunas emprendedoras y son participantes del Programa Mujeres, Economía Local y Territorios MELYT, de ONU MUJERES El Salvador que responde, a través de una estrategia multiescalar, a cerrar las brechas históricas para la autonomía económica de las mujeres en términos de acceso a servicios empresariales, a mercados y su inclusión financiera.
