Victory Programs' 2017 Dinnerfest RED Party + Auction was one for the record books with a celebrity-style step and repeat, returning rock-star auctioneer Kathy Kingston and premium prizes including a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to throw the first pitch at PRIDE night at Fenway park that sold for nearly $5,000 after Dinnerfest co-chair Tiffani Faison upped the anti not once, not twice, but three times, sweetening the deal with additional goodies courtesy of her 2nd restaurant, Sweet Cheeks Q which happens to be steps away from Fenway Park, live on stage to motivate bidders! Guest who wore red, the signature color for the event, were entered into a special raffle. The event raised more than $130,000, last year's record and supports Victory Programs' 17 health, housing and prevention programs which serve more than 2,300 men, women and children annually.
Special thanks to Photographer David Fox for capturing these amazing shots from the event!

Positive notice in the April 25, 1922, edition of the Dayton Herald of Dayton, Ohio (my home town):
Jimmy Casson and Fred Klem stopped the show yesterday with their piano and song act. There are few programs today which do not include such an act, but also few which are so fortunate as to obtain two such entertaining artists. Casson does the singing, for the most part, although Klem is well able, as he demonstrated, while he does the piano playing, and how he can play.
Casson's songs are of a variety which win applause, and his personality such as to win audiences at once. Klem's accompaniment is excellent and his solo work splendid.

The Library Codelab: Intro to Programming class is hard at work writing out their first program. This class was held in honor of STEAM month and taught by library staff. This class used no computers to teach computer science concepts, such as: logic, programming languages, and more. Students created programs such as "Going to the Gym" or "Alert me when my car has less than a 1/4 tank of Gas." This class was held at Plaza Midwood Library on Tuesday, October 1.
Join Charlotte Mecklenburg Library for STEAM Month each October - a month-long celebration of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics.
