Computerized Accounting & Payroll Program builds a solid foundation in fundamental computer, accounting and professional skills.
With one of my Macs in Japan (and non-functional, regrettably) and another one here with me but with no monitor, I wanted an easy way to see the time in various time zones. So, I wrote my own program. The time zones you see here are all hard-coded for now but as proof-of-concept, it works well.
The Civic Center Library sponsored a free Photo Booth and hosted its first tabletop Game Night on Tuesday September 16!
We had many visitors to the Purple Monkey Photo Booth in the Civic Center Cafeteria, and later in the day at the Civic Center Library. After posing with a prop or a favorite book, or just some goofy friends, visitors left photos and comments for the Civic Center Library's scrapbook.
Game Night was a chance for all ages to enjoy a wide variety of games including old favorites like chess, checkers, Scrabble, Monopoly, Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, Sorry, Yahtzee, Uno and more. Thank you to everyone who came by, and made this event a huge success!

The idea of a 3-part series complete with exercise books and audio soundtrack that tells you how to write short BASIC programs might seem quaint nowadays, but this was cutting edge. A nice and very informative set if you can get your hands on it.

Each summer, St. Georges opens its doors to the world and offers a dynamic, fun and safe boarding program. Boys and Girls aged 9 to 16 years come from all over the world to enjoy a total Canadian immersion experience in one of Canada's most beautiful cities and campuses.

Maryland Environmental Service, on behalf of the Maryland Port Administration, works with local organizations and schools to place hatchling terrapins in classrooms. The juvenile turtles from the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island live in classrooms from fall through the following spring.
Students provide all care to the terrapins. They collect growth data, observe behaviors, learn care and husbandry protocol, and research the natural history of our state reptile. Head starting allows the hatchlings to grow to the size of a 2-3 year old wild juvenile terrapin in just 6 months.
After caring for the hatchlings, students bring the terrapins back to Poplar Island where they are released to the Bay. This hands-on learning experience engages students to take action and better understand the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay.

M$ has been bombarding everyone with these cute door hangers that say "Do not disturb - I'm playing with the Visual Studio Beta 2". Since I'm not, I thought I should customize it a bit.
The USDA Summer Food Service Program is providing daily free breakfast and lunches for all youth 18 and under in Sitka this summer. Partnerships and Alaskans coming together truly help this program happen. This program is operated by Sponsor Kids Kupboard and Administrator Sitka Conservation Society, with generous financial contributions from Sitka Legacy Foundation and the Sitka Tribe of Alaska (STA), and staffing and assistance from Youth Advocates of Sitka, Sitka Tribe of Alaska, and the Sitka School District.
