Our Kids programs are huge. We designed the and supported staff training for the 4-h camp at Bryant Pond for almost ten years, we have also designed programs for scouts, homeschoolers, and military dependents. Our school is a hands on, experiential learning facility. Our Childrens Programs Director is a Certified Teacher, Eagle Scout, and Instructor with us since 1995.

The Soviet space program comprised the rocketry and space exploration programs conducted by the former Soviet Union (USSR) from the 1930s until its dissolution in 1991. Over its sixty-year history, this primarily classified military program was responsible for a number of pioneering accomplishments in space flight.
So here's how it works:
> Turning the aperture ring raises the "Diaphragm Bar" behind the lens. At f/2.8 it's completely below the lens opening, and at f/22 it's just below the lens centerline.
> When the mirror rises, it drags this panel up with it; the odd shaped hole in the middle is the shutter opening. The mirror/shutter rises just as fast as its spring can whack it, and returns at the same speed as soon as it reaches the top.
> At f/2.8, the shutter is open for the entire distance of travel shown in green above - it takes about 1/60 second to cover this distance. But at f/22, with the DIaphragm Bar up where the purple line indicates, the shutter doesn't open until it reaches that line, and it closes as soon as it passes that line on the way down. The entire movement takes the same time as before, but the open time is only the time that it takes to travel the distance shown by the purple arrows. Assuming that the speed at f/2.8 was 1/60, this works out to about 1/500 second.
> The aperture at f/22 (and at all other settings except for f/2.8) is in the shape of a triangle with its point at the top - the top 2 sides are the edges of the "roof" part of the shutter opening, and the bottom side is provided by the Diaphragm bar.
It's actually just a little more complicated than this. In the above description, the f/22 opening is not centered on the same axis as the f/2.8 opening, and in fact if the Diaphragm Bar actually went as high as the purple line it would block off the center of the lens. So, in addition to all of the above, at the smaller apertures, the mirror/shutter is actually stopping its upward travel earlier than it does at full aperture. How does it do this? In the view of the Diaphragm Bar at www.flickr.com/photos/rick_oleson/53225547915/in/dateposted/, there is a second, gold colored bar that's coupled to the Diaphragm Bar, with a bent-up tab at its tip. As the Diaphragm Bar rises, this gold bar comes down - the tab at the end is the stop that the mirror strikes against to stop its upward travel. The two bars are coupled together so that the mirror's stopping position produces a centered triangular aperture opening at all settings. Dang.
Whoever did this will probably never be famous - but he was good.

Naquela data, a contratada AEL Sistemas* (AEL) entregou à contratante Saab, com sucesso e dentro do cronograma, o primeiro protótipo "Modelo B" (WAD #2) do display panorâmico Wide Area Display (WAD) para o novo jato de combate brasileiro. World Defense News registrou essa entrega histórica.
Cabine de 5ª geração "Made in Brazil"
Em fevereiro de 2015, a Saab anunciava a seleção da AEL como nova fornecedora no Brasil, habilitada para receber uma ampla transferência de tecnologia. A empresa foi selecionada para fornecer o Wide Area Display (WAD), o Head-Up Display (HUD) e o Helmet Mounted Display (HMD), que serão integrados ao Gripen para o Brasil como parte do contrato F-X2.
Em 2 de setembro de 2015, a AEL entregou à Saab, também dentro do cronograma, os primeiros protótipos "Modelo A" das unidades do WAD para o Gripen brasileiro. Em maio de 2016, a AEL anunciou a entrega, com sucesso, da aplicação de Interface Homem-Máquina (Human-Machine Interface – HMI) para o WAD, uma versão preliminar de software que demonstra os conceitos de HMI da Saab para o futuro WAD. Em 2017, mantendo o cronograma de desenvolvimento da Saab, a AEL está entregando o Modelo B.
O WAD é um sistema inteligente com tela panorâmica (19 x 8 in) de alta resolução, que permite exibir uma imagem contínua e redundante em toda a sua extensão, e é capaz de receber entradas de teclas multifuncionais, comandos touchscreen ou interfaces externas. É a principal fonte de todas as informações de voo e missão na cabine de piloto.
Em conjunto com o capacete designador de alvos HMD TARGO e o Head-Up Display, o WAD forma uma avançadíssima interface homem máquina (HMI) que só conhece similar na que está sendo desenvolvida para o caça stealth Lockheed F-35 JSF.
O WAD #2
Trata-se do protótipo com mecânica e hardware finais para uso em laboratório, simulador e aeronave (no solo), o que permitirá à Saab dar continuidade às atividades de desenvolvimento de software e sistemas até a entrega do primeiro WAD para instalação em uma aeronave para uso operacional em serviço.
Para que isso aconteça dentro dos prazos planejados, uma extensa campanha de testes em voo deverá utilizar protótipo Modelo C, previsto para ser entregue em 2018, em estreita cooperação entre a AEL e a Saab, em Linköping, na Suécia.
"Estamos orgulhosos de entregar os protótipos dentro do cronograma e com qualidade, permitindo que os engenheiros da Saab avancem no trabalho de integração para a aeronave. Este fato evidencia o compromisso da AEL com a Saab e a Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB) para fornecer a próxima geração de cockpit para a próxima geração de caças", afirma Sérgio Horta, presidente da AEL.
“Este é um passo muito importante no desenvolvimento do Gripen para o Brasil. Demonstra uma cooperação muito eficaz entre a AEL e a Saab e é mais uma etapa de sucesso na cooperação industrial entre as empresas brasileiras no programa Gripen", diz Mikael Franzén, chefe da unidade Gripen Brasil na Área de Negócios Aeronáuticos da Saab.
Um programa que cumpre prazos
O programa de desenvolvimento do WAD começou em janeiro de 2015. O novo programa de sistemas aviônicos para a aeronave está planejado para ser executado ao longo de cinco anos e inclui o desenvolvimento, a integração e o trabalho de produção, que serão realizados em Porto Alegre (RS), na sede da AEL. A integração do WAD com a aeronave será feita pela Saab e pela Embraer, com o suporte da AEL.
Como parte do programa WAD, está em curso uma intensa transferência de tecnologia para a AEL, permitindo à empresa gaúcha desenvolver competências anteriormente inexistentes e colocando-a na vanguarda da tecnologia em displays panorâmicos. Um escopo adicional tem ocorrido no desenvolvimento da interface Homem-Máquina (HMI) para os avançados caças, juntamente com a capacidade de realizar manutenção de aviônicos.
