The twilight in winter produces snowscapes of a dazzling beauty.

Camera 5 - a Clack lens which is meant to project onto a curved film plane is projecting onto a flat plane Rapid Omega 100 in this home made camera. that is why it is producing such delicious bokeh around the periphery. I was hoping to achieve some type of a lomo effect in the planning stage, but was not expecting such a juicy sweet spot and such suave bokeh.

Tosca's retreat in her private woods... filled with peace and joy.

Medium-sized songbird that produces one of eastern Australia’s most familiar rainforest calls. Olive brown above, with white throat patch contrasting strongly with black face, crest, and breast. Juvenile lacks white patch. Feeds on the ground, most commonly in dense vegetation of rainforest and other wet forests. Very vocal. Male sings “oooooo...doo-doo-doo–whipp!” and female responds “pew pew.” (eBird)

Heard frequently in rainforests of eastern Australia, we quickly learned the song. At O'Reilly's, they are very tame and would come to people for food. In fact, a few times they were too close to photograph, even with the 100-400mm lens. The main problem is that they love the deepest, darkest parts of the forest, so very noisy and dark originals. This photo has been significantly edited to bring out the bird from the gloom.

It's the time of year when fresh fruit and flower stands are starting to pop up all over .... these strawberries were last night's dessert.

Hope it's a great weekend for everyone! ;)

As the Summer fades in the memory, and Autumn wraps it wet and warm snuggles around. It is time to bring in the harvest. Some vegetables just finishing, such as the beans, some just starting, like the pears and grapes.

I shoot in AV mode most of the time, today I decided to try Manual... and was really happy with the results... but so much to think about!! lol...

52 Weeks of 2021. Red

My my. Arriving late to the theme for Smile on Saturday (when am I ever early I wonder?) of Straight out of the Camera Flora I thought I'd resort to something from the archive. But first I had a quick glance at what others had posted...

My my. That was a humbling mistake! I love flower images and today we are awash with lots of beautifully framed, exposed and focused pictures of gorgeous beauties.

There was no hope...

So here I present something that is straight out of the camera and not framed, focused or really exposed correctly. It's a wobbly shot, and one of the things that I really like about wobblies is that you are no longer bound by the shackles of getting it right all the time. As getting it right all the time and me form the most uncomfortable of bedfellows it is my only avenue of escape...

But they are great fun to do, too. Normally I think wobblies benefit from considerable post-processing to overcome the limitations of the technique (increasing the saturation and contrast and, for my preference, sharpening to the point of oversharp to bring out some gorgeous and interesting textures. This one, however, produces a nice effect without that stuff - and that is both a welcome lesson and reminder to me, and a challenge for the future. (I'm still itching to increase the strength of the green though, lol!)

It's also a bit different from others today which I hope will entertain a little, and saves me the stress of trying to compete!

Technically this is not a SOOC image because I shoot in raw and that is all I get from the camera. But I have processed it (as I do for nearly all my ‘SOOC’ images) using a generic raw processor that doesn't allow any tweaking.

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Smile on Saturday, and 100x. Enjoy the weekend! :)

Cheese produce at Borough Market, London

The climate here in Greece coupled with the fertile nature of the soil means an abundance of high quality cheap fruit and vegetables, eg, a kilo of oranges or lemons or grapefruit (around two pounds in weight) costs around one Euro!

Quality so good you can taste it!

I was feeling so accomplished this morning. I got up at 5:40, went to Jazzercise, stopped by the grocery store and set up to take my image all before 8:00. You wouldn't think this would have been that hard to put together but fruits and veggies are roundish and want to roll away so I had to herd them back into the pile. I had it all set up, snapped a few shots only to discover I had things in the frame that weren't supposed to be so I had to rearrange and shoot again. Working on my mmmm Monday series. Wishing you a delicious rainbow today!

Taraxacum officinale grows from (generally unbranched) taproots and produces several hollow, leafless flower stems: 470  that are typically 5–40 centimetres (2–15+3⁄4 inches) tall, but sometimes up to 70 cm (28 in) tall. The stems can be tinted purplish, they are upright or lax, and produce flower heads that are held as tall or taller than the foliage. The foliage may be upright-growing or horizontally spreading; the leaves have petioles that are either unwinged or narrowly winged. The stems can be glabrous or sparsely covered with short hairs. Plants have milky latex and the leaves are all basal; each flowering stem lacks bracts and has one single flower head. The yellow flower heads lack receptacle bracts and all the flowers, which are called florets, are ligulate and bisexual. In many lineages, fruits are mostly produced by apomixis,[notwithstanding the flowers are visited by many types of insects.

The leaves are 5–45 cm (2–17+3⁄4 in) long and 1–10 cm (1⁄2–4 in) wide, and are oblanceolate, oblong, or obovate in shape, with the bases gradually narrowing to the petiole. The leaf margins are typically shallowly lobed to deeply lobed and often lacerate or toothed with sharp or dull teeth.

The calyculi (the cuplike bracts that hold the florets) are composed of 12 to 18 segments: each segment is reflexed and sometimes glaucous. The lanceolate shaped bractlets are in two series, with the apices acuminate in shape. The 14–25 millimetres (1⁄2–1 in) wide involucres are green to dark green or brownish-green, with the tips dark gray or purplish. The florets number 40 to over 100 per head, having corollas that are yellow or orange-yellow in color.

The fruits, called cypselae, range in color from olive-green or olive-brown to straw-colored to grayish, they are oblanceoloid in shape and 2–3 mm (1⁄16–1⁄8 in) long with slender beaks. The fruits have 4 to 12 ribs that have sharp edges. The silky pappi, which form the parachutes, are white to silver-white in color and around 6 mm wide. Plants typically have 24 or 40 pairs of chromosomes, while some have 16 or 32 pairs.

There was a Farmers' Market in a nearby town when I was there this week, with signs up that said masks were required for entry. The booths were adequately spaced to allow for social distancing as well, and the vendors were wearing masks along with the shoppers.

I don't know why this vendor was maskless, though this booth was just outside the area that was cordoned off for the market. Anyway, the scene seemed right for the Our Daily Challenge "Protected or Protective" topic, as well as for "Summertime."

A trip to my favorite grocery store yesterday helped me with my photo today. I had never seen or purchased purple cauliflower but that is what helped me envision the image. Lovely colorful visions filled my head all night and I am grateful for the vividness of my dreams.

Hippophae produces orange-yellow berries, which have been used over centuries as food, traditional medicine, and skin treatment in Mongolia, Russia, Ukraine, and northern Europe, which are its origin regions. It is an exceptionally hardy plant able to withstand winter temperatures as low as −43 °C. Because Hippophae develops an aggressive and extensive root system, it is planted to inhibit soil erosion and is used in land reclamation for its nitrogen fixing properties, wildlife habitat, and soil enrichment.

This fantastic 1957 Oldsmobile 98 is the full-size flagship model of Oldsmobile that was produced from 1940 until 1996.

Since it was the top-line Oldsmobile, the series had the most technologically advanced items available, such as the Hydramatic automatic transmission, the Autronic Eye, an automatic headlight dimmer, and Twilight Sentinel (a feature that automatically turned the headlights on and off via a timer, as controlled by the driver), and the highest-grade interior and exterior trim. Erosion has produced mounds, rills and gullies, unhindered by plants that would nail the soil down in this landscape near Hanksville UT - a geomorphologists delight. The rim of this overlook was a bit airy, and often undercut, adding to the thrill of the view...

like the mirage that produces an illusory oasis in the desert, the senses create the impression that there is a real world in front of us that is being perceived by the mind. The apparent reality of the world is an illusion. It is merely a misperception. ...

Self inquiry is the process by which attention is put on the substratum, instead of on the names and forms that are habitually imposed on it. Self is the substratum out of which all things appear to manifest and the Jnani is the one who is continually aware of the real substratum.
