I shot this photo of an acupuncture model in a Chinatown shop window when wandering around San Fransisco on a rainy afternoon a couple of years ago. I used Snapseed to convert it to B&W and do a little cleanup, the hand coloring was done using Procreate. I’ve been exploring hand coloring and adding texture and/or graphic elements to photos using various apps for a while now, this is my most recent one.

So I bought an iPad Pro in January and I am trying to learn how to use it for some art work. My problem is I am so familiar with Photoshop that I want to do my work in PS on my Mac. I am forcing myself to create on the iPad using a few apps and it is slow going - like learning to walk all over again. But there is no rush so I have decided to just enjoy the process. I did bring this one back into Photoshop for some finishing and I think that is probably the way I will continue to work doing the majority of the image on the iPad and then just finishing in PS.
Another sketchbook page from the Seydel archives, pen and watercolor crayon, then ProcreateApp for a few minor changes.
I got Procreate yesterday and I am literally amazed at the results!!! From left to right is Crossbones, Cap, and Steve Rogers!!! Procreate is the best and it DEFINITELY suits me!!!
Was inspired by Billy Riner to buy Procreate.
Was inspired by Melvin Seton for Steve Roger head.
This was an interesting scene. What first caught my attention is the “conversation” this couple was having as it was loud and agitated. Once she made the proposition and assumed the position he was ready to go. He flew away and then would swoop down upon her for a short time. This cycle repeated itself at least 5 times in fast succession. It didn’t appear to be stopping either…but a couple of photographers (I use the term loosely) on the other side saw me clicking away and made a bee line right to me scaring the couple away. Then they looked back in the direction I was shooting (they just came from) and asked what I was shooting. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Used the 300mm to be a little more mobile and agile.

Apps used: procreate, snapseed, painteresque and psexpress.
First started with the background pattern (inspired by seeing someone wearing a shirt with a similar pattern). First drew the pattern, then roughened it a little bit up with snapseed. Next I drew/painted the pillar at the right. First I wanted to add the figure with the head just as is. But then I got the idea to make it look like someone was painting the figure. Last addition was the faded poster on the wall, for that I used a version of the image that was processed with painteresque. Final step was making the colors slightly more saturated with psexpress.
