Learning how to make collodion wet plates. Smith Eliot has been kind enough to teach me the process and take me on as an assistant. These were captured on Smith's 5x7 camera while I was learning the process.
At Moel y Garth manganese mine. The ore bin upper centre has a barrow way above it to tip ore from the workings on the top of the hill. Below seems to be a cobbing floor, littered with small fragments of bluestone, then below that, just out of shot to the left is what appears to be a round buddle pit, not something I associate with manganese mining. I can't work out what it could be. So many mysteries!
Simple shapes overlayed with alpha-blending then colours chosen from a palette. Added a bit of black noise to the colours.

these wings are from a barn owl, roadkill, in the central valley of CA. I spread and pinned them to a board and am going to pack them in salt and rice to preserve them. They will go into a sculpture once they stop smelling so bad.
Someone was curious on a forum about how I go about doing a face up, so here we are!
