Quietly, I proceeded along the new birding trail I discovered. Blanca remained unseen down below while I could stretch just tall enough to look out over the top layer of shrubbery. We had only a few more minutes before the evening sun would be gone.
Then I heard something. It was familiar but I couldnβt place it at first. Somebody with a high-pitched voice was excitedly chattering away. Finally, beyond the range of my optimal eyesight, I recognized a shape crowning a twig. I could make out what looked like the gleaming lance of a medieval knight angled upwards in resolute readiness β and thatβs when it struck me who you were!
Iβve had encounters with you in the garden where you suddenly appeared out of nowhere and hovered 4 feet in front of me, buzzing at me like an oversized bee, challenging me. Youβre so popular with gardeners and photographers, itβs easy to forget that you are free and wild, roaming the wilderness. I didnβt realize this, but every spring you fly from Mexico northward up the coast as far as Canada and even Alaska and then back south along the Rocky Mountains to return to Mexico for the winter, an incredible journey of roughly 7800 miles! You memorize every garden feeder and every secret forest meadow along the way, and youβll even pluck insects right out of spider webs. You live by your wits and your feisty personality. You truly are an iridescent little jewel on wings, and I love you and admire you.
Obviously, you could see me but you still remained for a long time, chirruping along. I think perhaps your song told of this beautiful and timeless truth: Nobody is ever too small to carry themselves with kingly self-possession and accomplish heroic deeds.

After a month long stint of WAPO and POWA running with Dash 8s leading, today's WAPO had a nice change with a trio of ex-SP SD45s rebuilt into SD40-2s. They have almost two miles of train trailing behind them as they grind their way off the double track at CPF194, and proceed west towards Rigby, although several 10mph restrictions on various Portland crossings will limit their speed to basically 10 for the remaining five miles into the Rigby yard.
Very territorial little Lizard. He spotted me a long way off and ran to confront me. Immediately challenge me to a contest of pushups. He did about 45 or more in just a few seconds. I said "Okay Pal, you win. No contest." Feeling superior now, he hopped up on a rock about 6 feet away, and proceeded to challenge me once again, but this time did about 75, and waited for a response. I straightaway turned and walked away, in absolute defeat.

This is actually a shot from my 2023 trip. These are two boars that ended up in fairly close proximity to each other and we watched thinking we might see an altercation.
But the smaller boar in the back ended up going up onto the tundra until the bigger guy made his way down the river.
If you're familiar with their body language, you can see how the smaller boar is being careful not to make eye contact with the larger boar walking toward him. He definitely didn't want to provoke anything.

While on a little hike through the woods last fall, I came upon this giant wasps nest. It was so quiet, I assumed it was empty and abandoned for the winter. As I got closer, I saw how wrong I was! Look closely....you'll see! Lucky for me, I didn't disturb them from their slumber.

The sun is shining... yea... but I am not getting to enjoy it as I am fighting bronchitis and an upper respiratory infection. Seems with the rain and all that comes with it... mold.. mildew.. I was blessed to have avoided it this long... but saw the ENT doctor and he gave me meds and I will be better real soon. So for now staying in and resting and taking my Rx. My pharmacist who is a very special lady asked if I had had both pneumonia shots and I said I had had one. Then she proceeded to make me aware that about a year ago they came out with another one to be taken also and she recommended that when I am well that I get it given my history with bronchitis bouts. So maybe y'all already knew or maybe not but I just thought I would tell you so you can be aware of it's existence and take advantage of it too! And when I am well I will go back to her and get mine. Isn't it wonderful how God sends people into our lives to help us along the way!!
The SAMSON windmill is an open geared windmill. The SAMSON was a very good windmill but required relatively frequent lubricating because of its bearing design. The Samson windmill was made by the Stover Company was formed in 1881, in Freeport, Illinois, USA, although its principal Daniel C. Stover had been manufacturing and inventing various machinery from the 1860's. Windmills were not added to the company production list until 1883. Daniel Stover together with his brother, had patented a windmill in 1872, but sold the manufacturing rights. Windmills started in the United States in the mid 1800's when a new style of windmill was developed that comprised a small rotor set on top of a skeletal steel structure. At first these were using a few wooden blades, but soon became more technologically advanced, using steel blades that would fold back in very high winds to avoid damage to blades and any connected equipment. These were used primarily in the American West as water pumps to draw up water for cattle or crop irrigation.

So last night a pulled the most noob thing you can do and accidentally took EVERYTHING off i was wearing when i was trying to put on new eyebrows. Don't ask me how I managed to do that, I am just special like that, so i took advantage of that and kinda started a new. Changed up some piercings and layers. My makeup, eyebrows, bloody ears and caution tape gauged earrings are all from ASTROPHE. I Kept it clean and simple to really highlight my make up and accessories. Hope y'all enjoy

British built, Belgium Naval tug Proceed laid up at a Northwich boatyard along the Weaver Navigation, Cheshire.
5 exposures and 3 images.
Our young shellfisherman proceeded to do the marine equivalent of "handbrake turns" which drew a lot of interest from the harbour wall photographers...not surprisingly, since this was in a quiet beauty spot. No surprises that the photographers snapped away like the dreaded paparazzi....much to "Popeye's" chagrin....
The train was waiting for a service coming from the opposite direction, before it could proceed on its way. The Mid Norfolk line from East Dereham to Wymondham is a single track, with a passing loop here at Thuxton.
Finally cleared to proceed eastward, CNAIM1's DPU passes the burning structure of the Crunden Martin Manufacturing Co. complex. By this time the inferno that engulfed several historic buildings was contained enough for rail traffic to safely pass.

There had been 8 or 10 grosbeaks in the mountain ash, happily munching away. Then, something spooked them, and this was the moment of explosive departure.
And he proceeded to pull them right off!!! I was laughing so hard, I couldn't taken another picture!!!!
We went to the Rockingham County Fair last night, so be prepared for a bunch of pictures.
