Today I met Photographer and Educator Serge Ramelli at El Matador State Beach. I was setup in a spot along the shore working on exposures when he setup up his tripod right next to me and ask "Am I in your composition" The second I heard his voice I knew it was him, I looked him right in the eye and said, "Serge" He said yes. I said Serge Ramelli He said "Yes" Wow!!! The world just keeps getting smaller and smaller. I have seen over 100 of his movies on photography and processing on the internet. Well after the panic subsided, we shared several minutes chatting, He had mentioned that he had been at Laguna Beach previously so I asked him if he's seen the pirates tower at victoria beach. I proceeded to show him a shot of the tower and some other choice spots from LaJolla and CDM. He was kind enough to compliment me on my photography, but then again he might have just been being friendly which is the more likely scenario. :) He is a very nice guy and very charismatic and personable and I took the opportunity to snap a selfie with him. He took my name and said he would check my stuff out. Serge, what your seeing here is a direct result of your video training series. Thanks for producing such a fantastic series of tutorials. :)

You can see Serge's Ramelli's excellent line of products here.

I was setup here hoping that the sun would pop through the clouds at the last minute, but it didn't happen. I'm so glad I ran into Serge Ramelli there or the 2 hour trip would have been in vain. Thanks again Serge it was so nice to meet you. :)

And thank you, for taking the time to visit and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great week. :)

If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.

The Portico of San Luca is one of the longest arcades in the world. The arcade is 3.5 km long and has 666 arcades. It connects the Porta Saragozza with the San Luca Sanctuary, on Colle della Guardia. The Sanctuary was meant to house a miraculous icon of the virgin. The arcade was meant to protect the icon as it was paraded up the hill. A yearly procession proceed from the church of San Pietro in the center of Bologna to the Sanctuary along this path. Originally the arches held icons or chapels erected by the patron family.

AUTUNNO IN TRANSITO: PROCEDERE CON CAUTELA!

It was a long trip from N.Y. to Tromso, Norway.

We arrived in Tromso somewhat tired from the long flight across the Atlantic, the layover at the airport of Oslo and the second flight from Oslo to Tromso.

When we booked our room at the hotel, we had requested one with a view of Tromso harbor. Needless to say we were not disappointed.

Soon after we got settled in our room, I went out to our tiny balcony to look at the view of the harbor. Upon noticing a green bright light behind clouds, I reached for my camera and proceeded to take pictures.

I could not believe that on our very first evening in Tromso we were actually witnessing what I was hoping to see during our trip there..... the splendor of the Arctic Lights.

Thank you for your comments.

Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark upon a sentimental journey, and enjoy every idle hour.

This year, the winter has been kind. Not a lot of snow, but still enough cold to establish the typical 2-3 feet of ice on the lake. The snow has vanished but the ice remains though obviously diminishing by the day. It's the time when one approaches the shoreline and cautiously looks out wondering... searching carefully, almost eagerly, for cracks or other signs of warning.

Taking that familiar first step, the foot pushing hard on the surface, tapping and stomping, while the adrenalin begins to flow. Should I or shouldn't I? In the corner of the mind are thoughts of the annual reports of snowmobilers and fishermen falling through the ice. But still you test...a fall and spring ritual...and decide it remains firm and solid enough to proceed. So you do, but not without very keen and heightened observation, yet smiling at how many times in your life you've experienced exactly the same event, and always with exactly the same intensity of feeling -- and thankful that such opportunities still exist.

yes, he proceeded forward into the shot and stopped right there against that yellow wall. you would think that would be framing photo magic..... I snapped a few frames, but his pose was without gesture and there was only a minimal leading shadow. So I decided to forgo that framed shot for this one with more inherent dynamism.

This shot has a story to it…a group of wild Zebra came down from the mountain while we were staying on a farm in Montagu, this one came very close to our bungalow. I grabbed my camera, ran out the back door and proceeded to crawl on my hands and knees through the bushes, over the dirt road, all the while making sure I was downwind because if it had caught my scent it would have fled, for sure…I found a position as close as I dared to get a good portrait shot of it and when I popped my head up my camera was ready for it looking at me….I could feel its hesitancy even fear but because I didn’t move an inch, it let me observe it for quite some time before it got edgy, it was an unbelievable feeling to be so close to it while it was sniffing the air and flaring its nostrils…a moment I will never forget

“As they proceeded there, black wings thudded in sudden unison, and a flock of birds flew up as they might from a ploughed field, still shaped like it, like an old map that still served new territory, and wrinkled away in the air.”

My encounter with this Stoat was particularly pleasing. Having explored mounds of earth with underground workings, twigs and stalks, it then took to the nearby water and proceeded to swim and leap with the same agility displayed on land.

Thank you all for your kind responses.

Well I was looking forward to this but was playing by ear after a 12 hour shift. I went upstairs to my prop chest and picked out various things and then proceeded to the wife's craft room and her scrapbooking sheets. Radomnly tried various things and then saw what looked good after downloading.(one can never really tell)

I was working in my new garden yesterday and thought it was poetic how we have to get to the roots in order to clear out and make way for the flowering promises made.

Thank you for your kind visit Flickr friends. Happy Sunday!

On my bucket list was to shoot at this bridge in Natural Bridges Monument at night. Set up this trip to allow that. It also allowed me to explore this area even more for interesting compositions that I had not done before when visiting here twice in the daytime.

I was trying to hike to the right of this frame to see if I could get the entire bridge into one frame when I saw below this pool of water in the creek that was around 50 foot long and 30 feet wide. It filled to the canyon wall edges, so not possible to get to this exact spot where I ended by accessing the creek below the bridge itself (that would have been easy).

I had to hike back to the arch, cross the stream, and then hike down along a trail to the right of this frame about a 1,000 feet until there was a spot to climb down into the creek safely. It was well worth it for this neat view of the bridge with the reflection as sunset neared. Needless to say I took quite a few compositions here.

The climb out was tougher, as the spot I came down and had to jump for the last section, climbing back up there with the camera was not going to happen. Had to go down the creek even further to find a spot to climb out safely.

The rest of the evening was spent with Mrs. Krach as we watched the stars come out and the Milky Way, where I proceeded to have a blast for several hours in the dark shooting away. It was truly amazing, and well worth the effort for driving back to the hotel in Mexican Hat in the dark.

Trying to comment on some other photos right now, but the internet connection here in the middle of southern Utah is not great, taking a long time to just pull up someone's photo to see. It took nearly 20 minutes to load just this photo :)

Our trek continues ...

.... a wonderful foggy morning at the local watering hole but a deer still proceeds with caution. Probably heard me walking on the bridge's crunchy pavement and stopped before entering!

I was pretty impressed with the precision of some of the instruments that were present in Jantar Mantar .

The Jantar Mantar is a collection of architectural astronomical instruments, built by Maharaja - meaning King - Jai Singh II at his then new capital of Jaipur between 1727 and 1734.

It is modeled after the one that he had built for him at the then Mughal capital of Delhi. He had constructed a total of five such labs at different locations, including the ones at Delhi and Jaipur. The Jaipur observatory is the largest of these.

This Halloween parade was organized by 'Paper and Clay Theatre'. The theatre people made some fabulous masks. It was probably smaller parade than usually, as it was raining all day and evening, but kids joined in their own costume, as the parade proceeded through the Christie Pits neighbourhood. There was even a 6 piece brass band led by a prominent Toronto sax player Richard Underhill who plays all over the world in the last 35 years.

The most important building, not only of the monumental complex of Ingapirca but also of the entire North of the Inca Empire was and is this elliptical Temple whose major axis is 37.10 m by 12.36 m of the minor and 4.10 m Tall. It has 11 parallel rows whose perfectly joined joints and sores present a careful work of padded and overlapping ashlars according to the traditional norms of classical Cuzco architecture. Its construction was due to a process of adaptation of the elliptical design conceived by the Inca architect on the outcrop of a rock that stood out in that place at the top of a deep ravine. This rock was shaped like an ellipse and proceeded to coat it with those symmetrically carved blocks.

Although the external parts of the joints have a perfect union, internally you can check the use of mortar based on a clay with a high cement content and that exists only in Ingapirca which, due to its presentation and color, the farmers follow calling with the quichua terminology of "quillucaca" (yellow droppings). The temple is linked to the Ceremonial Square through a ramp that ascends to a trapezoidal door in the center of the major axis, on its south side. When passing this door, one encounters a beautiful typically Inca niche and the wall of the evil called "guard body", so it must be turned to the sides where two small opposite stairways arise that allow to reach the temple platform. From there the view is wonderful because the entire Hatun Cañar Valley is dominated and the ruins of the monument are appreciated.

The elliptical platform is divided in its central part by the presence of two enclosures whose fronts face opposite, one towards the east and the other towards the west. These two rooms are separated by a mediating wall with evidence of trapezoidal niches or niches; while in its north and south walls, which end in tall gables, two niches the size of a man appear and match the entrance doors to each enclosure. This building with two opposite environments and without windows is considered the sanctuary of the sun. In the opinion of the archaeastronomic scholars, through its doors the rays of the rising sun (eastern room) and the west (western room) entered the niches of the mediating wall, indicating periods of illumination and shadow according to the periodic variations in the output and sunset of the star king. According to Ziólkowski's experiments, the eastern room would have been illuminated in the period of the December solstice, while the western one in the June solstice, a phenomenon interpreted by Aboriginal priests and sages to announce their feasts and the beginning of sowing and harvesting respectively in the fields.

On the northern part of the Temple, that is, in Barranco, four retaining walls, now restored and consolidated, stand out, giving it a total contrast with the south side; because while in this sector everything is flat and accessible, in Barranco everything is pending and rugged. These contrasts generate in the visitor two different attitudes: the one of security and the other of anguish and vertigo. In any case, the danger is annulled with the presence of an extraordinary Inca wall that extends from the Ellipse to the West, separating the cozy spaces of the Akllahuasi from those inaccessible from the precipice. It is the wall that still keeps intact the original finish of its carvers and builders from five hundred years ago.

The Wadden Sea is the largest tidal flats system in the world, where natural processes proceed largely undisturbed. It extends along the coasts of Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.

For its globally unique geological and ecological values the Wadden Sea is listed by UNESCO as World Heritage. Nowhere else in the world is there such a dynamic landscape with a multitude of habitats, shaped by wind and tides. Global biodiversity is reliant on the Wadden Sea.

In the framework of the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands take on the responsibility of preserving this irreplaceable ecosystem for the benefit of present and future generations. (Source: www.waddensea-worldheritage.org)

I absolutely LOVE these little Bushtits. I looked into this dead tree and noticed about 150 of these little fella's in that tree and proceeded to try and capture one or two as the popped about. Then after a few moments of trying to focus on just one to get a shot, I realized there are actually only 2, but they were popping about so fast it merely seemed like the tree was full of them.

I wonder if these little guy's are on SPEED or some other drug that makes it possible for just 2 of them to be everywhere at the same time? I hollered at this one, "Hey, take a breath will ya, I'm trying to get a picture. How about a little cooperation, OKAY?"

He stopped for just a second and voilà. Is he cute or what, God bless him, he's adorable.

THANK YOU JESUS! For everything YOU HAVE DONE!! ❤️❤️❤️

------------------------------ JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST, ALONE! ❤️

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus died that death for YOU and I. The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

I went out to the Eastern Point Lighthouse in Gloucester this past Sunday and it turns out the Nor'easter had not completely passed us - It was quite stormy and with lots of big waves. I'm usually all for walking out to the end of long causeways, but a fisherman had just been swept into the water moments before! (he was OK, fortunately)

While back east a few weeks back I got to see some beautiful snowfall much to the chagrin of Mr Snuggles the family dog who remained in NJ to watch over my youngest. He’s never enjoyed walking in it and protestingly was walked on that brisk morning. On way to lab, I took the backroad it took me by Garret Mountain Reservation in Passaic County, specifically to the grounds of Lambert Castle which is partially visible in this very winters scene, the Lambert Castle Mansion & grounds undergoing renovations currently was unable to really park, so would stop car, get out fire a few frames then proceed. Eventually I was pushed out by Passaic County Sheriffs Cruiser as the county has its shooting range adjacent to Lambert Castle so my photographic meandering was blocking his way out. #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @newjerseystateparks @newjerseyisntboring @newjerseyisbeautiful #newjerseyisntboring #newjerseyisbeautiful @passaiccountynj @lambertcastle @kehcamera

I composed this photograph of Le Chateau Montebello while visiting there during a lengthy road trip through Eastern Canada.

It claims to be the largest log building in the world. Construction for the hotel building was overseen by Finnish immigrant Victor Nymark, a master log builder who immigrated to Canada in 1924. As work on the building began before the hotel's final design plans were completed, Nymark's construction crew occasionally proceeded without blueprints to guide them.

The three resort buildings erected in 1930 were built using 10,000 western red cedar logs shipped from British Columbia. The log walls are painted black on the outside, although its interiors maintain natural wood colouring. The building also features 500,000 hand-slit cedar roof shakes and 166 kilometres of wooden moulding.

In analyzing fashion, I usually begin with the general silhouette and proceed to details.

However, when it came to Heartsdale’s Van Gogh Collection I went back into history to better understand the source of Nino’s inspiration for this collection – namely, that of the post-impressionist Vincent van Gogh’s “The Arles Sunflowers.”

They were meant as a sign of friendship and welcome, but also of Vincent's devotion to Gauguin and gratitude as his artistic leader.

That said, I am also very grateful for Nino’s artist contributions to Second Life with her wonderful jewelry art contributions over the years here. She serves as an inspiration to me and many others. I appreciate her dearly.

This HJ Van Gogh Collection comes with 3 different petal color options – white, pink, and yellow.

I also wanted to draw reference back to Sascha's Diada Jacket for us to better appreciate its beautiful fleece underlining, drape, collar, and other finish details with this pink version. The Sascha’s Design Diada Outfit ensemble is rigged for Maitreya (+ Petite), Legacy (+ Perky), Freya, and Hourglass mesh bodies.

This Heartsdale Van Gogh Collection and Sascha's Diada Outfit are exclusive for Swank's February Fifty Shades of Red Event.
