Problems collected as part of the Ghana ThinkTank Process in Mitrovica. We collected problems on the North (Serb) side of the Ibar river, and sent them to the South (Albanian) side of the Ibar to be solved. And vice-versa. This project was supported by CEC Arts Links and SUNY Purchase College School of Art and Design.
Uma noite para deixar os problemas de lado, e celebrar a vida. Na terça-feira, 15/09, a Unimed Vales do Taquari e Rio Pardo (Unimed VTRP) comemorou o Dia do Cliente de um jeito diferente. Foi o “Rolê em casa: Pra sair do sofá”. A live show foi transmitida ao vivo pelo YouTube e Facebook da Cooperativa Médica.
As bandas Lusco Fusco e Jê Trio foram as grandes atrações da noite. O evento contou ainda com o “Quiz Mude1Hábito”, onde os participantes responderam a perguntas sobre saúde, qualidade de vida, mudança de hábitos e sustentabilidade, e os mais rápidos puderam ganhar brindes exclusivos, interagindo exclusivamente pelas redes sociais.
A condução da live foi do jornalista e comunicador Nairo Orlandi. O mascote em formato de coração Tum-tum também participou do evento on-line, levando toda a simpatia e energia para a transmissão.
Para que alegria e o alto astral pudessem chegar a mais pessoas, o “Rolê em Casa” contou com intérpretes da Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras) durante todo o evento.

Spots on the lens, flares from the lights, at an angle, the tips of the spires are cut off, the exposure was too long, the aperture is wrong, there's a sign in the way - but for some reason I quite like this shot.
Strength: Nice color on subject.
Problem: Slightly blurry. Solution: Hold camera more still.
Problem: Window sign is distracting. Solution: Move bike in front of a less distracting background.
Problem: Lights are slightly overexposed. Solution: Faster shutter speed.

Here's a little section of an image I shot today on a borrowed Canon 5D mkII.
As you can see, the background features some really hideous banding, the natural fade of the background looks 'bitty' and staggers.
Does anybody have any ideas about how this can be eliminated in post or avoided all together? My hope is that it's just a firmware problem, perhaps this particular camera never received the firmware update back in 2008 that eliminated similar problems.
Gina when I've opened up your quilt to get some ideas going I've found this hole in the border that Kerry has done. I'm more than happy to fix it or I can leave it for you. I've posted another picture so you can see what I can do to cover it. Just let me know ASAP so I can get it done before I start on your border.
In the past few weeks I've heard a strange "thud" at certain times, and I think I've (hopefully) located the problem.
The front of the cab/sleeper rests on two rubber mounts, while the back rests on two airbags and two shock absorbers.
I found that there was about 1/4 inch of free play in the bottom mounting bracket of the right shock (shown in pic). Not only is the shock loose in the bolt, but the bolt is also loose in the bracket holes.
It's not a complicated problem, but the fix kinda is... since it seems the holes have worn larger, the bracket itself will probably need replaced... that bracket also supports the airbag... and it will probably require taking off the fuel tank to get to it.
Problem: Roof is covered in snow and only leaks when snow melts the problem is the snow backing up under 3 tab shingle and because there is no underlayment the water goes right into the seams where plywood meets, there are some torn shingles near vent causing leak.
Solution: Tarred around the exposed planks and replaced shingles where obvious cracks and leaks are

The UW Oshkosh Mathematical Problem Solving Contest is designed for motivated students in grades 7-10 who show an affinity for mathematics and mathematical sciences.
Um problema de saúde pública que causou mais de 7 mil mortes em Santa Catarina nos últimos dez anos, mas que ainda permanece como tabu, que as pessoas evitam comentar. Assim é o suicídio, mal que atinge gente de todas as faixas etárias, gêneros e classes sociais. Tirar o véu que encobre o assunto e trazê-lo para o dia a dia, ajudando na prevenção, é um dos objetivos do seminário “Viver, a melhor escolha: o desafio pessoal de sobreviver aos problemas da sociedade moderna”.
Na noite desta segunda-feira (18), a Câmara de Vereadores de Itajaí recebeu a terceira etapa regional do seminário promovido pela Escola do Legislativo Deputado Lício Mauro da Silveira e Comissão de Prevenção e Combate às Drogas da Assembleia Legislativa. Para o presidente da comissão e idealizador da série de seminários, deputado Ismael dos Santos (PSD), duas questões são importantes neste assunto.
“Uma é a proposta de conscientização, de sensibilizar atores, protagonistas, agentes públicos para que de fato esse tema não fique no silêncio. O silêncio é o grande adversário da questão da depressão e do suicídio”, afirmou o parlamentar. “A segunda é a conexão com a nossa proposta de comissão de prevenção e combate às drogas, que é a conexão droga-depressão-suicídio”, completou.
Para Ismael, a ideia é debater as situações que podem levar alguém ao suicídio. “A depressão acaba sendo uma antessala para o suicídio, mas há muitos fatores”, avaliou.
Outra intenção é falar das estratégias para identificar os sinais de risco de suicídio entre os jovens, pois as estatísticas mostram que o problema vem aparecendo cada vez mais cedo. “No Brasil, aumentou em 200% o suicídio em jovens menores de 17 anos. Na faixa etária de 17 a 29 anos, é a segunda causa de morte. A primeira é o acidente automobilístico”, revelou Ismael. “Quais são os sinais? O que fazer como meio de comunicação, família, igreja, escola? Quais são as estratégias de proteção que podemos dar à nossa criança, ao nosso adolescente?”, questionou.
Falar é essencial
O médico psiquiatra Rodrigo de Assumção revelou números assustadores sobre o suicídio. “A cada três segundos alguém tenta tirar a vida. A cada 40 segundos alguém consegue.” Para ele, falar sobre o assunto é essencial para a prevenção.
“Falando sobre o assunto, tenho certeza de que muitos dos preconceitos vão cair por terra. As pessoas vão saber que quando se procura um profissional – um psicólogo, um médico, um psiquiatra – não está louco, como se dizia antigamente. Doido é quem não procura nesse mundo alucinado, louco, que a gente vive”, afirmou.
De acordo com Assumção, se o suicida for ouvido, o primeiro impulso de se matar pode passar. “Quando a pessoa é ouvida e ela passa aquela fase de impulsionamento, em que ela está decidida, muitos dos casos a gente tem um resultado muito legal que é a desistência do planejamento dela”, disse. “É claro que ela pode voltar com os mesmos pensamentos se não cuidar, mas se ela for acolhida, se ela for revertida, a chance de reverter o quadro é muito grande”, completou.
A solução, para ele, é prevenir. “É se cuidar, se precaver, se prevenir, com boa alimentação, atividade física, psicoterapia, fé e espiritualidade é importante também. Enfim, tudo isso vai juntando, com medicação a pessoa vai encontrando uma estabilidade, um quadro emocional estável para, no futuro, quem sabe reduzir as medicações a voltar a suas atividades normais”, concluiu.
Triste liderança
O deputado Ismael dos Santos apresentou o ranking de suicídios em Santa Catarina nos últimos dez anos, com base em números da Polícia Civil. Florianópolis está em primeiro lugar.
