The monochrome of the GX1 is not too bad to get an idea of black and white on the spot. My recommendation: Never shoot monochrome without having RAW switched on, otherwise you throw away lots of information that you cannot recover from the jpg file (plus: you still get the color version).

The only filters I have used over the past 13 years have been ND filters, but I recently bought a Black Pro Mist 1/4 filter and I guess it takes that digital sharpness off of images and create a halo effect around light sources. It is pretty cool especially at night.
My second ThinkTank bag to compliment my Sling-o-Matic 30. Very comfortable and options to carry a compact or pro size tripod in addition to lots of compartments inside.
