This past weekend the girls took center stage as they competed in the Surfer Girl Pro annual competition at Oceanside. Perfect waves and weather for the event.
Established in 2007 as a showcase for women in action sports, the Super Girl Pro Series is the only large-scale all-women’s action sports, esports and lifestyle series in the world. Developed as a celebration of female strength and empowerment, the platform has grown into a series of five incredible festivals centered around providing social, athletic, cultural, educational, business, and entertainment opportunities for young women in areas where they are traditionally underrepresented.

It was hard to find something to scale her against, but this was a very large -- and fortunately friendly and curious -- female who came up to our jeep to check us out as we explored the northern Mara's Olare-Motorogi Conservancy. I'd say she was a body length away. To get her all in, I had to resort to the iPhone at its widest angle. My bad back kept me from leaning out the window as far as I'd have liked to get the low angle she deserved, but under the harsh midday light I still had a wonderful opportunity to capture the texture of the dried and cracked mud that covered her. (We were near the Talek River, where she'd likely got her skin-protective coating.) I know I have took and posted a similar picture before but this was taken with my new Hi Tech 10mm 10 stop filter with a lee 0.6 ND grad so wanted to show everyone.
The sky was quite white at this point but the nd grad bought back some detail.
i did colour correct this but decided it actually looked nice with a cooler colour so changed it back slightly.
This is a 130 second exposure thanks to my new Hi Tech filter.
Back to work tomorrow so won't be on as much for a couple of days but will be getting out with my new stuff soon for some picture taking.
My camera was on my tripod and fired via cable release using bulb mode and timed with my watch.
Getting my photo mojo back so I've got lots of ideas springing back into my mind again.

Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation is a historic site in Georgia known for its numerous live oak trees, some of which are estimated to be 500-800 years old. The plantation was a working rice plantation from 1800 to 1913 and is now a state historic site with a mix of salt marsh, pasture, and flatwoods.

The Eastgate Clock. A day out in Chester isn't complete without a snap of the clock.
Processed in Snapseed so I think that's why the exif isn't showing. This was taken with the Pixel 7 Pro.
The Carina Nebula and Running Chicken Nebula from my Adelaide metro (Bortle 6) backyard. This is a combination of 13 stacked shots with a Optolong L-Pro filter and 1 shot with an Astronomik 12nm Ha filter as a luminance layer. Lots of issues, no lens collar meant I was getting trailing from differential flexure despite autoguiding. The light pollution meant even with the filter the blue channel was maxing out way too early. Horrible gradients over the frame (this is a crop). After huge amounts of adjustment the star colours are somewhat red. I will try the L-Pro again with a longer focal length (see if that stops the gradients) and will see if it helps when used without light pollution. Otherwise I am doing something very wrong here!
