Every year in the weeks preceeding Halloween comes the big debate - what to wear. With Paige this becomes an event unto itself which involves careful planning, extensive travel and countless hours of sewing. The first year she was fairy. The second year a tiger. This year she's a "pretty pink pricess".
It didn't actually start out that way. One of Paige's favorite television shows over the past year has been The Doodlebops. We thought we'd go for a full family thing where Marna was Moe Doodle, I was Rooney Doodle, and Paige was Dee Dee Doodle. It turns out that designing those costumes takes a considerable amount of work. In fact getting even one just right is tough.
When Marna made the trek to Omaha, NE to visit her mom and assemble Paige's costume, I believe she had every intention of returning with Dee Dee. Playing off the wig she had purchased however, they landed on one heck of a fancy pink princess costume. Bravo!
This weekend we went to my dad's house to show off Paige's new digs. Grandma Linda was able to make the appearance too. Paige carved pumpkins with family, and then slipped away for the ol' presto-change-o. She's ready for the week ahead. Sadly, I'll be on the road (again) this week and will have to miss out on sugar-amped Taz version of Paige. Just be sure to save some candy for dad!
Princess Pier Torquay
Work on the pier commenced in 1890 as a simple mass concrete groyne. A steel lattice girder and timber structure was added in 1894, followed by a landing quay on the seaward side of the pier-head in 1906. A shelter, built to a modern design, dates from 1965.
In April 1974, fire gutted a pier-head entertainment building, ‘The Islander’, which, because of damage to the underlying timber, was demolished to deck level. It was discovered at this time that the steel superstructure was badly corroded and that, although half of the pier-head had been replaced between 1957 and 1964, the other half and the main length of the pier required urgent attention.
Torbay Borough Council contracted Christiani & Nelson Ltd to reconstruct the deck and defective steel work at the pier-head, and to replace the pier steelwork by underpinning it without removing the decking and shelter.
Reconstruction began in 1978 and, by the time the work was entered for the ‘Business & Industry Panel for the Environment 1979’ awards, the pier had re-opened.
She was going to go as a ballerina but didn't want to change after playing dress-up earlier in the day.
Taken with my G11. You can easily see how the G11 is overwhelmed by extreme tonal ranges. The face looks good but the highlights on the shiny dress are completely blown even though I comp'ed down 1/2 stop.

"Princess Angeline" was the daughter of Chief Sealth, for whom Seattle was named. The princess lived in this shack by the Seattle waterfront until her death in 1896. This photo is from 1890.
