Das Gebäude entstand aus einem Gartenhäuschen aus dem Jahr 1796. Karl Friedrich Schinkel ließ dieses im Jahr 1825 im Auftrag des Prinzen Carl von Preußen zu einem Teehäuschen umbauen. Dazu wurde unter anderem ein Vordach angebaut, das auf roten Marmorsäulen ruht. Entsprechend der Liebe Carls zum antiken Rom wurde die Fassade mit antiken Bruchstücken verziert und das Innere mit pompejischen Malereien und einem Mosaikfüßboden geschmückt. Der Name Neugierde kommt von der Angewohnheit des Prinzenpaares und deren Gäste, sich den Verkehr auf der Landstraße von Potsdam nach Berlin heimlich zu betrachten. Von der Straße her konnte nämlich keiner hinein schauen durch die geschlossenen Fensterläden. Dieser Name übertrug sich schließlich auch auf die wenige Meter weiter westlich - aber ebenfalls direkt an der Straße stehende - Rotunde, die rund 10 Jahre später erbaut wurde. Zur Unterscheidung der beiden wurde der Bezug auf die Größe voran gestellt.

The building was created from a garden shed from 1796, which Karl Friedrich Schinkel had converted into a tea house in 1825 on behalf of Prince Carl of Prussia. Among other things, a canopy was added, which rests on red marble columns. In keeping with Carl's love of ancient Rome, the façade was decorated with antique fragments and the interior was adorned with Pompeiian paintings and a mosaic floor. The name Curiosity comes from the habit of the prince and princess and their guests to secretly watch the traffic on the road from Potsdam to Berlin. Nobody could see in from the street through the closed shutters. This name was eventually also transferred to the rotunda, which was built around 10 years later, a few metres further west - but also directly on the road. To differentiate between the two, the reference to size was placed first.

One more sweet dream.. I become a princess but with no diary.. so I m not a princess diary! :p .. Photo taken 2 years ago.. and this is once in a blue moon shot. What a wonderful weekend with those sweet dreams..
My kids will hardly sit still for pictures any more so it is fun to play with my little daycare girl.
How could anyone deny this face? When Princess Penelope comes into my home office, sits at my feet, and looks up at me with her soulful (and, truth be told, mischievous) eyes, I am all hers.
Within 30 seconds of such a scene, she will either be: in my lap, licking my face; baby sharking my feet; or chewing the legs off my office chair.
