The lake was almost a mill pond and the vibrant colors of fall appear to be primping themselves for the last few days of fall. A wind storm is supposed to hit this area and in the next few days these leaves will be in the lake or on the ground.
"I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and… I believe in miracles.”
~ Audrey Hepburn
Numerous jokes have been made about me being a lady of leisure, and it’s true! I am indeed.
In the evenings, you’ll usually find me lounging on the sofa with a glass of wine.
My daughter knows that I’ll be taking a bubble bath between the hours of 8 and 9.
I spray my favorite perfume on before going to bed and first thing when I wake up.
And, the thought of being in a hurry rarely crosses my mind.
Yet, my house isn’t falling apart. My daughter is functioning quite well in society, and I have a thriving business. Actually, when I think about it, I am amazed!

“Paul Carl Stahr Jr. (1883-1953) was born in New York City. He studied art at the National Academy of Design where he graduated with honors. In 1905 he also studied at the Arts Students League. In 1913 his drawings were published in the ‘People’s Home Journal,’ and this began his career as a magazine illustrator. Stahr’s work would go on to appear in several other magazines like ‘LIFE,’ ‘The Saturday Evening Post,’ and ‘Collier’s’ regularly.
“During World War I, Stahr began painting posters for organizations like the Red Cross, Liberty Loans, and National Defense. Starting in 1924 he spent 10 years creating pulp magazine covers for ‘Argosy Magazine.’ He also painted a few book covers, including ‘The Big Sleep’ by Raymond Chandler. . .
“He created five covers for ‘The Saturday Evening Post.’” [Source: The Saturday Evening Post Archives]
Here is a little worker bumble bee of the west coast variety: Bombus melanopygus. Found in one of the San Francisco gardens that Jaime Pawalek does her bee research in. Long hair that is difficult to primp properly once it has gotten wet. So it goes.

I always consider canceling a field trip with heavy morning fog. Glad I didn't on this day. There is a strange eerie beauty to be seen in fog.

WOOF! Here's three photos of DRS Heart-Throb 68013, Stitched and Blended using Go-Pro Kolor Autopano and then Liquefied, Luminised, Bleached, Primped and generally tarted-up in Photoshop. (And if you're lucky, extinguished by the Buckinghamshire Fire-Service).
I love the way the orange and black contrast on the Tachina Fly. Each hind leg is equipped with a comb which is used to primp and polish. Thats why I say vanity becomes her.
Found this one hanging out in the shadows of the swamp primping & preening...
Get yourselves ready, and go out and have a great weekend !

homeless woman avalon on outskirts of hayes valley.
i saw her against the sun sitting at the end of an empty sidewalk and went up to her. she was in bad condition and couldn't interact well. she was hesitant to allow a photo, but then thought she'd like a shot of herself and agreed if i'd get her a copy.
so she primped herself excitedly and told me when she was ready... but when the camera went up, she got shy.

Several barn swallows were primping themselves on some branches close to their nesting area. I caught this gorgeous creature as he was chirping to those swallows nearby.
Taken with my Canon 7D Mark II and Sigma 150-600mm Sports lens.
I cannot recall seeing male Wood Ducks doing very much grooming, during breeding season. It's like they know they look good. This one caught me by surprise when it did some primping at the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary Delta BC Canada.
She had all the niceties of a New England housewife, a call hello and wave down the street, the invitation to her and her husband's new home. You could imagine what she sipped from a straw was an iced latte, and the rings on her hands those of diamond and sapphire. She primped in front of the camera. "I look awful," as many would say out of habit.
In this life, Sonia drank Cobra malt liquor from a straw, wore stale beer as a fragrance. She invited guests to a flooded basement apartment, a nicer abandoned building than the last.

Finally giving in to the TAGGED game, but of course i'm not doing exactly what i was told, the rules said no primping or preening* but they didnt say no dictionary of imaging, and its been ages since i posted a new one.
*No actual primping took place on me, there's not much point in that :)
Holly: Good evening from Holly of Blythe Network News. Good to see everyone. Tonight we have a special report regarding the Traveling Blythes. Soon, after a bit of primping and a raffle the Travelers will be heading to their forever homes. The 2012 Traveling Blythe’s have had a really long journey. When I began organizing this round in February of last year, I never knew it would be ending so late in 2013. But you know what else I learned? You can not forsee anything that is going to happen. Last year lindamom was a different person. Literally a different person. Her life has changed dramatically, and I am sure that many of yours have also. The people we were a year ago will never come back. As Frodo says “There is no real going back. …it will not seem the same for I shall not be the same. I am wounded with knife, sting, and tooth, and a long burden. Where shall I find rest?”
Many of us find rest with the beautiful girls called blythe. When Sandra Minkidynamite conceived this program in her heart it allowed us to welcome for awhile the spirit of travel and adventure in the shape of a doll to enter our doors and change our lives forever. If you hosted a Traveler you are also a different person. The talents of Happibug Custom, Moofala Custom and Kaleidoscope Kustoms formed the dolls into this very spirit of travel and adventure and sent them out to us. Aurora, Compass, Makani. My heart leaps just to hear their names. This past year for the first time we had a host in Hawaii and Israel! A Traveler was on the Great Wall of China! I can not tell you how excited I feel about this. Sandra is a wonder. She conceived an idea that creates unity.
What if you did not host a Traveler? There is another chance! A new set of Travelers will go out this year and the year after and the year after. Maybe one day I will have the honor of organizing again. It is a bitter regret that I was not able to finish along with the Travelers. But for now I will continue to be your reporter. I hope with the help of Babette of the rhubs knit Family who kept the news room open and does the most wonderful job. She is an excellent interviewer making them her own yet carrying on tradition. Do you like cheese?
But all of us are Travelers by virtue of our Blythes. Though terrible times with loss of jobs, medicial emergencies, the parting of friends, the insults of community members you thought were your friends and worse, Blythe has allowed our imaginations to soar free! She has pushed us to express ourselves, to live more and explore the call of the wild, the tide’s eternal tune, the phases of the moon, the chambers of our heart even if we never left our homes. Long live blythe, Long live the Traveler’s. The Blythe community has given this family love. And this family loves each and every one of you. This is Holly saying good night and thank you for turning into this station.

I often see girls putting on makeup in the train, but this guy had an elaborate routine to get his hair just right.
This is how Silver Sabs relaxes and primps in her boudoir before she begins her ordinary day as a legitimate mercenary, war criminal hunter, and leader of the Wild Pack. Fainting chair and fan, high heels, and gun in hand while lounging in lace lingerie.
On a side note, Drama Behind the Drama Agnes shoes are my all time favorite FR shoes. I love the little bows. :)
Primping Date Palm-Doha |Qatar
Dates have been a staple food of the Middle East for thousands of years. They are believed to have originated around the Persian Gulf, and have been cultivated since ancient times from Mesopotamia to prehistoric Egypt, possibly as early as 4000 BCE.
Dates are used abundantly in the month of Ramadan when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. The sweetness of the date takes the edge off hunger and this is another reason why fasts are opened with dates. This prevents a person from overeating after he has opened his fast.

Lets see....who will be the least mad at me for tagging them? How about:
