Enjoying a fabulous sunset on an unseasonably cool June evening, in a fun and flirty new sundress. Guess the sun got tired of waiting for me to get all primped and proper, he just disappeared over the hill.
Honestly, I don't remember the last time I put makeup on, so I figured I should capture the moment.
Cole and I got out of the house to get my bike from the shop, grab a bite to eat and shoe-shop for a bit. This trip didn't require any primping, but lipstick is fun sometimes...
I headed out to get some shots of some cedar waxwings reported to be at a local park. Instead, I found this guy --
Great blue heron at hot water ditch -- this guy usually hangs around for winter. He was in a posing mood and was primping for his photo.
"Colorado canyon girl could set me free
Brown eyes in the mornin' lookin' back at me
And just for that one moment... you're all that I see
Searchin' for some other place to be"
(From: "Boulder Skies" -- Pure Prairie League)
I love my native Missouri, but nothing reinvigorates my spirit like a trip to Central Colorado. It had been six years since my last trip out here, and on that trip I never really got to let my "girl" out, the real girl anyway.
Like many of my girlfriends, I've always enjoyed the more glamorous side of things. And I'll always enjoy primping and posing in sexy dresses and shiny high heels.
But as the years fly by, I find more and more the need to REALLY BE me.
I suppose I've been tinkering with this gal "Kellie" for the better part of twenty years, on one level or another. It's been an interesting evolution to be sure.
Much more interesting in the last ten years since I've accepted the realities, gotten out and gained confidence, and embraced who I am.
I first heard the lyrics to the song above about twenty years ago as well. The song relates more to a lovesick man, but that one verse above has always struck a chord with my feminine soul.
This is in the Crystal River valley of the Elk Mountains, nowhere near Boulder, closer to Aspen I suppose. But that verse speaks to my soul and always will.
"And just for that one moment... you're all that I see"
Sometime soon I'll get back to the "TG in the real world" pics.
Life is complicated enough these days, for now I'm having fun just doing the primping and posing thing. It's a girl's prerogative after all.

From time to time I need to get away from all the internet stuff and just be me.
(Posted 2/4/2009)
When I first posted this I suspected it might be Spring before I got back involved in this network. I truly hoped it would not be, as I was on a pretty good roll enjoying my time out in the real world, and enjoying sharing the images of my ventures as well. When I'm active posting on here is when I also enjoy seeing what my friends are up to, and the joy of this site for me is seeing my friends out enjoying themselves and being able to leave a positive comment on their photos.
Eventually however, a switch clicks in this gal's noggin, and I don't care to record and share my Transgender life anymore. As much as I love photography, and creating lovely images of Transgender women, at some point it's liberating to just put the camera away. The absurdity of the vanity of it all sets in, at least for those of us who've been at it a while. The posing and primping just seems silly. I think a lot of us who don't take ourselves too seriously, occasionally have a good laugh about this (I sure hope so anyway).
I do know that when I put the camera away, the last thing I want to see is images of other TGs. And that is unfortunate because I have so many beautiful, wonderful souls I've developed friendships with on here. And if you are not looking at the images, then you're not commenting on the images, and that is what makes our little TG Photo Merry-Go-Round work. We all want that positive reinforcement, regardless of whether the photo we just posted is our first, or our one-thousandth.
After all these years and all the friends I've made online, it was nice to be able to just quietly say "I'm taking a break", and hardly have it be noticed.

Sebastopol geese have a defect in the shaft of their feathers that makes them long and floppy. The disheveled look it is perfectly nomal for them and they spend much time preening and primping.
Two days ago I was looking at this. By next week the leaves will all be on the ground. Don't blink. Happy to capture this fleeting moment of peace and beauty. Lol, the 3 coots in the right bottom corner tried to swim out of the frame.

Who says we don't have a fall season in Texas? That's when the pelicans return and the Chinese Tallow leaves look spectacular. Add a little morning fog and you get this. Who can feel stressed here?

Anhingas don't have an oil in there feathers like ducks. They swim most of their time underwater looking for food and must dry their wings before flying.

I am the Musketeer Lancelot, that had run away from England, to his land, Paris, to join the 3 Musketeers and d´Artagnan, in the court of King Louis XIV.
And say, the legend, that he fall in love by the Queen, that was in love with d´Artagnan.
So, say, the legend, that he must ruan away from France in direction to Egipt, where he founds the Queen Cleopatra´s mummy, that was in love with the Marco Anthonius´ mummy ...

Jeremy Sloan tagged me on this, and I'm paying it forward!
What is a pre-portrait? In this case I had just finished primping before going and getting my portrait taken by a fantastic local photographer. I asked my husband to take a few shots of me before I went to the photo shoot, you know, just in case the professional's portraits of me didn't work out. The portraits from that session were superb, and I might share some with you later. I think these backyard shots of me came out nicely too.
I almost forgot to mention the dress. It is a Diane Von Furstenberg, vintage silk from the 1970's. I had the dress for a decade before I gained enough cleavage to fill out the daring neckline.
