Those of you who have been visiting my stream for the last two years are familiar with our annual January Buck Jump Competition. For those who are new, in a nut shell we can't afford horses so we go to great lengths to train our deer to jump our neighborhood fences on command. You get points for how high they jump, how fast they jump on command, and the judges also can add a few points on grace/artistic merit. During the second weekend in January we all get together and put our bucks and does through their paces and make a day of it with a big chili cook off at night. Lots of fun had by the whole neighborhood.
This year, my neighbor has started training his prize buck, Hoppy, early. He was supposed to win last year, but a young upstart went a few inches higher than Hoppy and we had an upset.
This man or woman, i am really not sure =), was taking a shot of the sail.
i knew it because i was standing at the same position before i went up to take this shot.
i guess i am at the right place and the right time.
Tegann really loves ballet. We take her every Wednesday to "Dance Class" as she calls it. She counts down to "Dance Class" starting every Wednesday night at bedtime!
She's actually a little advanced for her age and was put in an older class this past year.
I'm really hoping we can get her in the local feeder school for the arts. She's really into all of the arts. Visual, musical, and performance...she loves it all.

These are two of my last face-ups for my friends Nhaya and Misaki. I want to improve my face-ups so I'm practicing a lot, but when a face-up needs feckles, I always have so much fun! I love to see BJD skin as realistic skin. Thank you so much to Nhaya & Misaki!

Mallard chick giving his wings a workout in preparation for the first flight. The beak seems to be growing faster than the wings. That's not surprising given that the beak does not stop the whole day.
I'm going to the UK on Thursday to have a course with Eddie Spence MBE! Sooooo excited... :)
It's a dream coming true!!!!
I wanted to try a few new techniques so just used some left over coloured fondant on a simple chocolate mud cake.
Not really very good but it did teach me a few things and I like to have a pictorial representation of what I am learning. As I keep telling my daughter - one of the best ways to learn is to make mistakes!
two black headed gull practice shots from yesterday , I have changed a couple of settings in the camera after Fridays mess up and it seems to have worked the gull in flight is at roughly the distance the owls are later in the year and I'm happy with the i.q on it now OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
As any self respecting Lenfel will tell you, one does not just become a master archer, rather it takes years of constant practice. Thus within Lenfald, a nation of master archers, scenes like this are extremely common. In the fields and forests, all over the nation, one can see archers, often of both sexes, practicing their skills just about anywhere.

A practice test shot of the full sun with my Tiffen 95C ND 18 Stop Solar Filter.
I am getting ready for the total solar eclipse event coming up on April 8th. I will be heading down to Texas for that, so I can get into the path of totality.
The last full eclipse happened in my state of Oregon back in August 21, 2017. I was simply awestruck at the site of it, so I just had to make a trip down to see it again. It will be the last full solar eclipse I will see in my life time!
Medical Friendly Shelter Full Scale Exercise 2018
The City held a full-scale exercise of the Medically Friendly Shelter (MFS) designed to establish a learning environment for participants to exercise their MFS operational plans.
The exercise served as a practical walk through of planning, operational coordination, operational communication, logistics and supply chain management, public health, healthcare, and emergency medical services
The MFS is only activated for a Category 2 or greater hurricane or as directed by the City Manager. The MFS is for people who, during periods of evacuation or emergency, require sheltering assistance due to physical, mental or cognitive impairment, or a sensory disability that exceeds the basic level of care provided at a general population shelter, but does not require the level of care provided at a skilled medical facility. This includes help with administering medication, personal hygiene assistance with activities of daily living (washing, dressing and eating).
