Soldier athletes in the World Class athlete program practice at the WCAP headquarters in Fort Carson, Colorado, the U.S. Olympic Training Center and various outdoor trails in Colorado. All Army Sports joined at some of the practices during their annual clinic with WCAP. Pictures by Brittany Nelson, IMCOM public affairs specialist

Stephen set my white balance, because the auto WB wasn't doing the trick. Also played with metering a little bit, though I got frustrated with trying to master off-center light metering and quit before I managed to figure out how to make my small hand keep the shutter button half-depressed while also moving the camera and finding the right focal point. Some days this whole photography venture feels entirely beyond me.

Arms outstretched over-head, tippy-toes, 1/40 shutter speed, live view, 1250 ISO... gotta make it work!

A lot of composition and workshop errors. Comments and remarks appreciated. :)

Our backyard. The spindly object on the left is not a nearby shrubbery, but instead a maple next to the garage.

Taken the night before a promised winter storm. Judging by the table on the back patio, our house had 11 3/4" of snowfall.

Tech. notes:

No exposure or color adjustment. This was done with a 30-second exposure with all house lights turned off.

I hadn't taken any waterfall shot in a long time so I went out to a couple of easy one -- just a few steps from parking lots - to keep my hand in.

Baltimore Ravens Practice in Annapolis, MD

Finally jumped in and started experimenting with a photo I took of a hibiscus with unusual coloring when I lived in Hawaii. Have rarely used watercolors. Had difficulty because I didn't mix enough to begin with and couldn't replicate very well when I needed more. Will remember to take notes the next time.

Medical Friendly Shelter Full Scale Exercise 2018

The City held a full-scale exercise of the Medically Friendly Shelter (MFS) designed to establish a learning environment for participants to exercise their MFS operational plans.

The exercise served as a practical walk through of planning, operational coordination, operational communication, logistics and supply chain management, public health, healthcare, and emergency medical services

The MFS is only activated for a Category 2 or greater hurricane or as directed by the City Manager. The MFS is for people who, during periods of evacuation or emergency, require sheltering assistance due to physical, mental or cognitive impairment, or a sensory disability that exceeds the basic level of care provided at a general population shelter, but does not require the level of care provided at a skilled medical facility. This includes help with administering medication, personal hygiene assistance with activities of daily living (washing, dressing and eating).

The antenna minus the rod makes a great tomato (idea from Littlehaulic). Wish I had some Purple 1x1's or a bunch of cherries for my Grape Vine. I need a bunch more parts so I can make a field of Tomatoes and Corn.
