The bogies and underframe detail on the new model is much better. The new model certainly runs a lot better than my old Powerline 48's (long sold). There is also a lovely representation of the Goodwin-ALCo builder's plate on the cab.
Sometimes I feel that life is passing me by, not slowly either, but with ropes of steam and spark-spattered wheels and a hoarse roar of power or terror. It's passing, yet I'm the one who's doing all the moving~

Some power lines just outside Reykjavík. They made a loud buzzing sound as I stood beneath them.. Scary stuff... :p

I've never understood why people buy land to build a house and then go to so much trouble to bulldoze the palmettos. The Saw Palmetto is a beautiful palm native to the American south. It looks great in a landscape.
My mom always told us to stay away from palmettos because there were rattlesnakes in them. Maybe that's why some people don't like them.
Today I was in a workshop on how best to manage Powerline Right-of-Ways. My small part of the project was to identify the native bees that were utilizing the Powerline Right-of-Way after management of unwanted plants has taken place. Powerline Right-of-Way adjacent to Lake Elkhorn, Maryland.
A rather large steel pole for a 69KV circuit. This dead end was added when the poles had to be moved to widen the street.
