thought it was a cute picture of my powerbook (fruit) as i do a solaris install at the datacenter. boy do i love unix. and my mac. but hey, what's the difference.
A nice exercise to get me started thinking about how to put things together. It made my brain hurt, but I did get one shot to work, finally. Then, silly me, I tried to get a better one, and it all went downhill from there.
Trusty powerbook with iCurve, wireless keyboard, JBL speakers, google mug. Ready to waste hrs looking at pictures on Flickr for no discernable reason....
Wanted to give it a try myself and I have to say it's REALLY harder than it looks. Well, this is my first try without a tripod anyway...

Powered by a PowerPC 603e processor it was clocked at speeds up to 240 MHz and was the first to showcase a full PCI architecture. Additional features include built-in trackpad, first introduced with the PowerBook 500, and included a hot-swappable 1.4 MB floppy disk or CD drive.
Someone destroyed a titanium PowerBook G4 here. Notice that their is no rust on the case. Apple can sure make'm last.
I'm trying to decide whether to switch my university's MIDI studio from our current software to Apple's Logic Pro. An Apple Education rep had this PowerBook sent to me with Logic on it while I make up my mind.
Of course we had to boot them all up at once to hear a symphony version of the Apple start up chime.

Next time I will:
- not try this at half past twelve at night
- dim the lights more if I do try this again in the dark.

Bought a printer today. Some genius decided there was no need to include a USB cable, and no need to label the box "USB cable sold separately". But I found one in my tangle of orphan cords, and printed some stuff.

it doesn't get easier than this. it was like moving everything exactly as is into a bigger house. one more reason not to switch from a mac!
