Power lines parallel the road leaving Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge just after sunset. I think these lines supply electricity to Lifton Pumping Station at Bear Lake, Idaho.

The past few years our state of California has suffered massive fire tragedies caused by utility power lines.
I am hearing that preparations to prevent fires this coming fire season are being impacted by the pandemic, and the usual procedures to defend ourselves during wildfires (receiving reinforcements from outside the state, healthy firefighters living together in close quarters in stations and firecamps, etc., etc.) are in doubt.

Escher Wyss+Oerlikon steam turbine, 75 MW.
I do usually like to move around when shooting on the embankment (apart from my Canary Whatf shots but that's because I'm taking drone shots too ;-) but once I found this viewpoint I just took shot after shot, long exposure after another and as such I have such a haul, all different but of the same iconic London landmark.
Former power plant, which operated from 1911-2001. The following machines can be seen here (from foreground to background):
1) STAL Ljungström turbine with 2 STAL generators
2) CEB turbine with GANZ-BUDAPEST alternator (1924)
3) Turbine with BBC turbo alternator (1925)
4) ESCHER-WYSS turbine with ACEC alternator (1928)
Total capacity of the plant was 56 MW.
The building that houses Australia's first publicly owned hydro electric power station is now a museum. Built in 1895 it has withstood the test of time and flood. The 1929 flood in the Cataract Gorge, near Launceston, wrecked the turbines and seriously damaged the building, but it remained in service until 1955. Here you can see where the distributor pipes that delivered water to the turbines flowed into the building. There are two old turbines still here which we'll look at in coming days.

……A little psychedelic and probably more suited for Sliders Sunday but quite pretty I thought? A result of ‘playtime’ with Colour Efex Pro4 - not used this plug-in much but enjoyed the play. BTW, this was a shot of the Clematis behind our garage (Jill thought it was wallpaper!!). Staying securely ‘Locked Down’ AT HOME to stay safe and also to NOT be a vehicle to the virus - Covid-19 does not have legs (or wings) Alan:-)

This one is a bit of processing magic. I finally found a new program that can create what I see in my mind when I look at a photo. I loved this scene, but the colors weren't as vibrant as I wanted them to be, nor was the sky interesting enough. After about an hour, voila. The fort in St. Augustine has a more lovely backdrop of clouds, and more vibrant tones in the water and sand, which makes this photo really pop. I enjoyed working on this one!
I won't be on here much this week. Thursday starts extended hours at my store for the Labor Day sale, and hopefully I will be very busy. We're also about to be hit by what should be a tropical storm in another day, packing winds of up to 65 mph and soaking rains. Worse case scenario, no work Thursday! Might have no power, AC or internet, either! Please pray for us down here in Florida, especially those on the west coast, where they are expected to get up to 15" of rain! Welcome to sunny Florida!

Blueberries are an amazing super food. Packed with antioxidants they are also high in potassium and vitamin C. They can help lower your risk of heart disease and cancer, as well as being an anti-inflammatory.
Sorry, not sorry for posting another shot from Tuesday afternoon. This is obviously a composite as I love having the flat water and then the sky frozen, especially when it is providing colours like this. Have a couple more to come but might drip feed these later.
Force of Nature - Steam Rocket Bike
Steam Rocket Bike
Steam Rocket Bike
'Force of Nature' is a steam powered 'Rocket' motorcycle built for drag racing, record breaking, exhibitions and events. It uses the latent energy of super-heated pressurised water released through De laval nozzles, where it turns to steam and creates the thrust to propel the bike forwards.
The design brief was to create a Rocket bike like no other: Build quality to rival THE BEST, as well as unique green credentials. No proprietary motorcycle parts were to be used unless they were deemed un-improvable! The idea was to build a steam powered Rocket bike with a potential speed of 200+mph, which had never been achieved before.
