Well the might of storm Ciara is hitting all of the UK today, gusts of wind and torrential rain. So that put paid to any thoughts of getting out.

This old steam locomotive was placed there as memorial to the time when the Xuhui riverside promenade and park (徐汇滨江公园) used to be a busy warehousing and cargo area.

The locomotive was made in 1987 by the Datong Locomotive Works (大同机车工厂). It is a 2-8-2 "JS" (建设, Jianshe = Construction), in the revised "B" specification, build no. 8145.

Of the "JS" in total 1,916 units were made in two production runs (not only at Datong), from 1957-1965 and again 1981 until the final end of production in 1988/9.

I was at home in Curitiba, Brazil. The Thunderstorm began far away in the horizon and approached more and more. These lightinigs were realy close to me once I was shooting at 16mm.

This shot was taken near the Dead Sea.

The desert bloomed in red and green, in yellow and purple.
