After the Apocalypse ended, almost all electronics were wiped out, making it hard to get news from one town to the other. Old and young men were recruited for sending news to other towns through the dangerous paths that led them to it. Often the Runners would encounters ambushes by raiders and outcasts, but they were of course armed with the best weaponry of the time. Out of 20 runners, usually only 7 would survive their journey.

According to this, the old Post Office Building is now owned by the University of Pennsylvania.
I wonder why city planners decided to allocate prime riverside real estate to I-76 and a mammoth post office. Maybe Penn will turn it into an arts center or raze it and build a park.
