This is the Landständehaus (aka Landschaftshaus), which served as the meeting venue for the Landstände, an ancient kind of parliament. The colorful facade dates to 1599 and shows important personalities from the House of Wittelsbach.
After the dissolution of the Landstände in the early 19th century the building was used as a post office - hence the name "Alte Post".

The (former) Postamt of Mittenwald at the Bahnhofsplatz.
The building dates from 1914, as a post office it is out of use since 2009, new use is as an art museum.

Looking like something between a crane and a rail, this odd wading bird has no close relatives. It is widespread in the American tropics, but enters our area only in Florida and southern Georgia -- only where it can satisfy its dietary requirement for a certain fresh-water snail. Mostly solitary, Limpkins may be overlooked as they stalk about in marshes and swamps; they draw attention with their piercing banshee wails, often heard at dawn or at night.

Just the regular squirrel sizing up the situation on the fence between us and next door . The biggest matter in hand is the bird table with peanuts on and another neighbour's cat sitting on our back door step .
Clarity is a bit odd here as the shot is taken through the double glazing of the patio door with a net curtain that kept getting in the way . My main concern was getting as close as possible to the glass without clonking the the end of the 100-400 mm lens on the glass and scaring the character off !!

Furtwangen è conosciuta soprattutto come la patria degli orologi a cucù. D'obbligo quindi una visita al Museo dell'orologio (Deutsches Uhrenmuseum), che raccoglie 4000 pezzi tra cui numerosi cucù, di ogni epoca e dimensione .
Uno dei pezzi più pregiati: un grande orologio astronomico a pendola con planetario, costruito a fine '700, musicale, con personaggi in movimento, insomma un vero capolavoro.
