That was one hell of a storm we had Thursday!
Not as eerily Mars-like as Scott's shot or weirdly yellow as Lu's but definitely dramatic.
In October 21-22, 2017, the LIRR replaced the Post Avenue Bridge in Westbury – a span struck by dozens of overheight trucks in recent years resulting in train delays. Work was completed ahead of schedule, with the first regularly scheduled train passing over the new bridge at 1 a.m.
The new bridge’s height clearance now allows trucks of up to 14 feet to safely pass underneath, improving LIRR system infrastructure and service reliability. The old bridge -- that hovered over Post Avenue at 11 feet 10 inches -- had been struck by trucks between five and nine times per year in each of the past six years. Train delays in both in both directions would loom as LIRR crews worked to determine its safety and structural stability before restoring train service.

I've never cheated on my current girlfriend of lo these many years but if a sexy intelligent funny black woman came on to me I'd have sex with her if she wanted me.
Contractor crews walk south along the shoulder of southbound I-5 on Wednesday, Feb. 5 looking at the new guardrail posts their team installed. The crew was repairing more than 200 feet of guardrail that was damaged during a Saturday, Feb. 1 landslide.

I'm proud to present the Emiliacouture Spring 2021 ready to wear capsule collection: "Post Apocalypse".
The Post Apocalypse athleisure garments are all about movement and dancing around the apartment while no one is watching. This Issey Miyake inspired collection of lounge wear is made out of Japanese pleated cotton blend with PVC stripes. The soft and stiff stripes give the fabric a unique shapeability that is really fun to play around with.
All items are OOAK and fit most 16" dolls (photographed here on Inamorata 3.0). They are sold as mix-an-match items at my store:

The background wall elements are made by Julia Gartung and painted by me using a sponge technique. The leather lounge that is in some pics is also commissioned from Julia.
Crews were installing post-tensioning strand in the pontoon tendons on Feb. 24, 2014. These tendons will be tightened to add strength to the pontoons.
Construction crews are underway on the fourth cycle of SR 520 bridge pontoons in Aberdeen. In this cycle, crews will build six total pontoons:
• Four longitudinal pontoons (360 ft. x 75 ft. x 29 ft.)
• Two supplemental stability pontoons (98 ft. x 60 ft. x 28 ft.)
I loved my new heart header on the blog so much, I decided it needed to become my new branding. I have never been 100% happy with my three petal logo i've gone with for so long, but this finally feels right. I love the colors and the happiness of the hearts. I am forever drawing hearts, for as long as I can remember, so why not have it be part of my crafting brand? I ordered some new post cards for little love notes in my Etsy salese and some new business cards. I'm particularily happy with myself for finding a way to include all of what I do on one easy to read line: "Patterns + Quilting + Handmade".
Poster triptych (or single poster now) for hank's class based on the flannery o'connor concept that "everything that rises must converge."
Posters based on african-americans turning a pejorative used against them into a word of power, when the actual truth is that there is no power in changing the word because it is still an identity trapped in the original reference to the race. If we are to find our own identity, we must let go of that word altogether.
DuBois idea: "Double consciousness, a consciousness that yields him no TRUE self-consciousness, but only lets him see himself through the revelation of the other world. It is a peculiar sensation this double consciousness, this sense of always looking at one's self through the eyes of others, of measuring one's soul by the tape of the world that looks on i amused contempt and pity"
I say this looks like a post punk rock show shot, a random, blindingly bright flash hitting an attendee after the show in the hallway.
Alas, it's nothing so dramatic. This was merely Lydia and I shooting in the dark. The new Generation 2 600 color film from The Impossible Project is pretty cool. Great color when you use flash (still have to see how it handles daylight), and it develops a lot faster. I've waited around for an image to start to show for what seemed like forever from the previous iterations of film, but after about a minute and 45 seconds I started to see Lydia come through. It still took another 15-20 minutes for the colors to completely come through, but I was shooting indoors on a rather cool night, so it probably fully develops faster outdoors. I'll have to test that later on this week. But knowing getting an image rather quickly, knowing whether you messed up or not in less than 2 minutes is a big change. I'm a fan.

This picture was taken about a week after Steve Jobs’ death at the Palo Alto, CA(his home) Apple store . The storefront was covered with post-it-notes written to him, thanking him for his contributions. Some of them were surprisingly poignant. As a big time Apple fan, I found it interesting and sadly, sweet. (see another shot below)
