Day 341 ~ 365.2015

ODC ~ Post for 12.07.15

Fokker Friendships were never that plentiful at Heathrow, but back in 1973 Air France brought one in from Strasbourg Monday to Friday on flight AF938.

These Friendships were mainly used on domestics and also on mail services.

But internet records suggest that when I photographed this aircraft it was on the fleet of TAT (Transport Aerien Transregional) so maybe they flew it on behalf of Air France?

Times have certainly changed and these days Strasbourg is only served from the UK by a seasonal Ryanair flight from Stansted.

Coal posts such as this one, located near Nazeing, Essex, located on what was once a main thoroughfare, were erected during the mid-Victorian era under the London Coal and Wine Duties Continuance Act, 1861.

They mark the boundary, approx 15 miles from the centre of London, at which duty had to be paid on imported coal. This duty was abolished in 1890, but most of the 200+ boundary posts remain in place to this day, and are regularly maintained & painted by volunteers.

I am fascinated by the way the old wooden posts have weathered and the lichen now growing on them.

I have arrived in San Fransisco. It is not quite how I imagined it. I thought there would be more people. I changed my MP5 for an M14 that I found on a mutant that had been shot. He lied on it and I almost missed it. It had a broken stock though. The handguard was ruined and would hurt my hand. It is bolt action because the gastube it gone and a sight that was weld onto the bolt. I named it Jill after my friend that died four days ago. I went into a house for shelter and supplies, and there I found a man. His name is Liam Anderson. I gave him my first name, but not my last. I don't know why.

I'm so tired of dealing with these guys, I never bother them, other than some food and weapons I take here and there, but still. Now they think they're tough cause they can send a mech? I don't think so. Actually, I think it's time I give 'em back their grenade...

Yay! The first two post-apocalyptic pins are finished! I like to think these might be awarded for something cool like 'award for the most zombies beheaded' or 'scavenger queen' or something...
