Mail carriers, 1905 by City of Round Rock

At this time the post office was housed in the Masonic Building at 107 S. Mays Street, and carriers delivered rural routes in two-wheeled "hacks." The carrier on the left is Bob Carlson, the other is unidentified.

1985 Building gutted by fire

Posted 1911. "Interurban to the Lakes". The Pontiac & Sylvan Lake Railway opened in 1895 and was soon extended to Orchard Lake (hence the caption "lakes"). The line closed in 1932.

After a straightforward, mechanical free run, the bike returns unscathed with a healthy spattering of Yorkshire Dales mud. Prior to the race, I always grease the chain and further lubricate with a heavy, wet weather oil. By the end of the event, the chain is always dry and shining.
