The caption on this circa 1908 card reads, "Projecting over the James River at an immense height, this rock carries the legend that a man named Holcombe was driven onto it by Indians, and escaped capture by leaping into to the river, as none of his pursuers dared to follow."

This is a vintage Post Card from my grandmother

On November 17th, 1906, Cliff Nash sent this post card, from Bath, Ontario, to Mrs. G. W. Beach, Athens, Ontario.

He wrote, "This is all the card I have so I will send it to you and you can tell the rest I am well and working very hard. Was at the office at 7:30 this morning. Everything is going fine, only I do about half as much each day as I would like. Edith and Ruth are up here with me every day and Edith is getting real handy. Will write a letter tomorrow. Yours lovingly, Cliff."

Post Card I bought. I don't think I would like visiting this dentist.

Today, August 23, 2015, I received an email from Patricia Gordon-Rice who lives in Washington State, USA. She wrote:

"I came across the old postcard of the dentist you have on Flickr and can tell you a bit about it. Mrs. G.W. Beach [of Athens was my great grand aunt, Huldah (Nash) Beach.

Cliff was her brother, (Charles Clifford Nash). Edith was his wife and Ruth his daughter. And yes, he was a dentist. He lived from 1877 until 1946."

Nano Post Card at Rishikonda Beach, Visakhapatnam

Old post card found in a book purchased at a used book store in Isla Vista, CA back in the 1980s.

Looks like correspondance card for the Community Housing Cooperative in Isla Vista. Robert Borsodi also had a coffeehouse, Borsodi's, in Isla vista.

I love this image, the back is dated in pencil "1912" it is a birthday greetings card, there is a little birthday message on the back "To little Lily, wishing you birthday greetings, from big Lily."

Old POST CARD shot of Fresno's Mall probably from the late 1960's or very early 1970's. My hometown.

The Crater Cottages on Oregon Avenue – the original route of Highway 97 into Klamath Falls – is seen in this post card from the 1950s. The motel complex was built in 1929, and was originally known as Bratton's Cottages. In later years it was known as the Oregon Avenue Apartments. They continue to serve as rental units.

The location and date of this house are unknown. This is a real photo post card probably before 1920, a way to let friends and family in other places know what sort of home one had. The photo looks like it was taken in the fog, but I suspect it’s the quality of photography and not weather that creates the impression. The house is a 2-story wood dwelling. The wraparound porch is on three sides with slender turned posts and brackets supporting the porch roof. The porch entrance has a small pediment. On the front façade are many lower floor windows. The roof is steep with prominent eaves; there’s a strangely shaped (to me it’s strange) gable on the front.

A firewood cutting operation is seen in this photo printed as a post card and mailed from Klamath Falls in August 1913. The photo was taken just south of Main Street, in the area where Veterans Park is located today. A circular saw and "one-lunger" engine is seen on a horse-drawn wagon at right. Firewood is being loaded into another wagon at left-center. The back side of buildings along Main Street are seen in the background. By the 1960s, all of those buildings had disappeared.

The Ever-Changing Skyline View of DALLAS, TEXAS, population 700,000. Post card was put out by Martin News.

On the back the postmarks read January 5, 1909, Six Mile Run Pennsylvania, and January 6, Defiance, Pennsylvania--the only message is "So Lonely. Are You?"

My wife bought this post card in Daytona Beach in 1954 while she was on her senior trip after graduating from high school. She mailed it to her parents back in Tennessee. Her mother kept it and we found it in her things after she died at age 91. Even lowly post cards sometimes have a history.

I am surprised this one made it. This card is of better manufacture so I suspect it is an older one. The later cards are poorly printed and are on bad paper. A history of postcards shows the steady decline of the society.

There was no information on this post card front or back.

You can't see me...

Post card printed sometime before 1950. Previous name was Altadena Hotel. It was located on 4th Street (US-1) in Fort Pierce about a block north of the south bridge causeway. It faced east so that must be the setting sun behind it. This is likely a hand tinted black and white photo.

I lived there when I was in high school.
