Post Card sent to Olive G. Payne, 144 Cedar Street, Clinton, Massachusetts from her sister Beatrice Eldridge Payne from Northampton, England, 23 August 1904.
Olive G Payne born May 1892, Massachusetts and her sister Beatrice born March 1885 in England were the daughters of Hector Payne (born June 1858, England) and Martha, nee Boston, Payne (born August 1857, England). Hector was a Draftsman and he and his family had come to the USA in 1887. In 1911 they were in England at 35 Wilson Patten Street, Warrington, Worcestershire.
Beatrice Eldridge Payne seems to have stayed in England where on 23rd November 1911 at Warrington, Lancashire she married Alec Westley Skempton. Their only child, Alec Westley Skempton born 4th June 1914 at Northampton was to become the noted Scientist Sir Alec Westley Skempton.
Beatrice’s husband, Alec Skempton during WWI joined the Army on 12th December 1915, Regimental number 86706

The Brewster F2A Buffalo was an American fighter aircraft which saw service early in World War II and was designed and built by the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation. The Buffalo was largely obsolete when the United States entered the war, being unstable and overweight.
In December 1941, Buffalos operated by both British Commonwealth (B-339E) and Dutch (B-339D) air forces in South East Asia suffered severe losses in combat against the Japanese Navy's Mitsubishi A6M Zero and the Japanese Army's Nakajima Ki-43 "Oscar". The British attempted to lighten their Buffalos by removing ammunition and fuel and installing lighter guns to improve performance, but it made little difference.
Postcard in my father's war time aircraft photograph album. My father started the album about 1939 when he was aged 14, and this card probably dates from around then.

Image (I edited a bit) from Wikipedia of a post card of the second Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, Japan. It survived the war but not the wrecking ball... The third Imperial Hotel is still a going concern.

Grace Methodist Episcopal Church in Klamath Falls constructed this building at the corner of 10th and High Streets around 1915. It was razed in 1926 to make way for a larger building that is still standing at the site.
The photographs in this collection were taken by Francis Berry, who worked at Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital for more than 25 years, retiring in 1988 or 1989. Following his retirement he moved back to Indiana and did volunteer work with the fire department in Cloverdale, Indiana, as their photographer. He passed away on May 8, 2014. Mr. Berry had donated an album of these photographs to KPH, which is the source of these scans. He also collected port cards of the hospital, scans of which are included in this collection.
The scanning of his photographs was done by William Dyer, a psychologist currently working at KPH, in appreciation of Mr. Berry’s documentation of the buildings that were being torn down during the 1970s and 1980s. The images are intended to preserve the visual memory of the hospital’s history, as an important part of the city of Kalamazoo. Use of these scans is given freely to the Western Michigan University Archive and the Kalamazoo Public Library for all forms of research relating to the history of Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital.

This post card was printed in 1989 - and Yet it is currently on sale at the Opry Mills Barnes and Nobles! The bat-building is not yet built and you see WKDA - not KDF on the stahlman building.
This was just something that I was inspired to do. I like the way the sky turned out...I'm not sure if my farm bldgs. are substantial enough to balance...though the idea is how overwhelmed we can be by nature.
The steamboat Gen. Canby is seen near logs stored on Lake Ewauna. The Canby sailed on Lake Ewauna, the Klamath River and Lower Klamath Lake from around 1904 to 1909.

That headdress (with the little black hat) was a regional tradition from the Haute Loire. Love her shawl, her hands that have done plenty of hard work and her lace pillow - very traditional from the area and that she has 2 different shapes of bobbin there.
Unfortunately the piece of lace on the pillow moved and is a blur but I'm guessing it would've been 'Cluny'

1950s "old school" post card of B-61 Matador being launched from what was, at that time, the Air Force Missile Test Annex, Cape Canaveral, FL. Artwork based on a USAF Air Force Photo. The lighthouse is still there, today.
Josephine Williams is the maiden name of my mother’s father’s first wife. I have scanned in about a hundred of her post cards from a hundred years ago. This one is from a Florida alligator farm.
Found this on ebay, its taken from the main public road (Barlby Road, now designated the a19).
Major changes, the conveyor over the road, gone, the chimney gone, the little railway type house, gone :(
