My Flickr friend, Yucatan, took me to the Japanese Garden today. We had an early morning start, before the heat wave hit us. After spending a few hours at these gorgeous surroundings, we had a delicious lunch together, catching up on our lives, laughing and having a jolly good time.

It is called a Oregon Whiskey, but this company buys the various whiskey brands from outside the state and blends it here in Portland. The vodka is distilled here.
Maine AmeriCorps Alums partnered with Hour Exchange Portland and other local agencies to perform step-one weatherization on the homes of low-income residents. More than 50 volunteers came out to do work in 16 homes. Work included installing weather-stripping, CFL light bulbs, door sweeps, window plastic, etc in order to decrease energy consumption and spending. Photos by Stephen Davis Phillips.
