I met up with flickr friend Roddy_Gilly in Whitby to explore Whitby, Oshawa and Ajax.
This is the second time Rod and I met. A huge thank-you to him for driving me and showing me around all afternoon!
Whitby is about 56 km or 35 miles east of Toronto. I took the commuter train to Whitby.
Now I cannot remember where this is... we stopped outside of someone's rural home as this is one of the highest point in the entire province and looks out to a very wide landscape (photo of which will be posted later).
Thanks to Rod, now I know this is about 1366 Coates Road West (west of Stevenson Road North), Port Perry, Ontario
I spent last Sunday driving around to find a sunflower field that I saw last year with no luck. Came across this field purely by accident. My own texture applied. (c) 2013
CSX 8051 leads train Q383 between the bridges at Port Perry, PA on December 19, 1999. The SP tunnel motor seemingly dwarfs the lead SD40-2 and trailing Geep. The bridge on the left is the Union RR, while the bridge on the right is the NS Port Perry Branch.

A secretive bird of freshwater marshes, the Virginia Rail most often remains hidden in dense vegetation. It possesses many adaptations for moving through its habitat, including a laterally compressed body, long toes, and flexible vertebrae. The Virginia Rail and other rail species have the highest ratio of leg muscles to flight muscles of any birds.
This bird was seen at Nonquon Lagoons in Port Perry, Ontario, Canada.
Every Wednesday evening during the summer at Haugen's Chickens and Ribs Barbeque there is an open car show, tonight I finally went to it. Out of all the cars this was one of my favourite.
a must to view in lightbox.

A loaded grain trains turns off the Port Perry branch and back towards the mainline towards Altoona with an old Conrail SD60 up front. Duquesne, PA is in the background.
Took a drive to Port Perry to pick up my Mom who will be up visiting for a few weeks from Newfoundland.
It was almost dark, little light, and yes, it's the moon behind her. An 8 sec exposure provided a nice water effect.

Moving upstream to Port Perry and the Duquesne area we see a Union Railroad crew doing some work. More URR power is in the background.
