Poppies have been associated with rememberance since Flanders in the first world war.

Today I found my poppy field. I am now a happy bunny and as I only had time for a quick shot today I'm sure I'll be visiting it again this week, especially as today the skies were grey. Praying for blue skies........
I'll be off for some time, checking out Portugal. Don't know yet if I will upload from there. If not, we will see each other again in 10 days. Have a great time and thanks for all your support.
This is another poppy but this time taken 'in situ' ... I've no idea what the name of this one is cos , although I've kept the label [s] - it's nothing like the picture ref. It should be Allegro - which is a deep red with a the black bits absolutely central .... as you can see mine are a bright orange-red with the black markings some distance from the centre. Still handsome in it's own right though.
The Patty's Plum I think is wrong too as the ref.pic hasn't the 'shagginess' of mine. I also expected my salmon pink Carneum to be a white poppy !! don't know if it will show up soon as there are still a lot to bloom.
The bees were buzzing like mad but my aim wasn't to particularly capture any of them - cos I had to use my old camera, [which isn't nearly as good as using my macro lens], because of the handling difficulties. I've cropped the image.
