I've had annual poppies flowering all over my garden for weeks, but it's always been so breezy, even windy that I've been unable to get a decent shot! This morning the wind was absent - HCS!
We went out on a poppy hunt last night and found this little patch, it maybe a little early as there looks to be a lot of buds still to open. so i`ll go back again for another look but not this week though as the rubbish weather has come in again .
Love Poppies....
Once again really had to battle against the wind to get the guy sharp. Selecting a fast shutter speed and ISO .....

Truth, like the juice of the poppy, in small quantities, calms men; in larger, heats and irritates them, and is attended by fatal consequences in excess. Walter Savage Landor

Actually, these California Poppies are in my personal front-yard poppy field. I just came home this morning after an early birdie walk (thus the long focal length and high ISO), and these were open but still in the shade. I love this light. If you didn't know, poppies wrap up tight in the late afternoon and open again around mid-morning. Pretty smart, huh.
The weather is getting hot and dry now, so they may continue to last for awhile but the freshness is already wearing down.
came across this poppy field in Sussex and just had to share
I used a low angle so as to lead your eye across the field and up to the sky at top of hill, and of course I used the rule of thirds.
During a brief burst of sunlight a perennial Poppy flower stands out from the flower border.
